Hi all,
My mums car is going into limp mode. We took it to super cheap and got the following codes: P1270 ( engine speed rev / limiter reached ) P2110 ( throttle actuator control fault ( TAC )) P1507 ( idle air control fault ( IAC )) Can someone please shed some light on what could be wrong? Im trying to find a link between the throttle actuator and the idle air control. Thanks in advance.

Here is the actual super cheap sheet.
Obviously the first 3 highlighted lines are my concern. Thanks. https://ibb.co/btgScv

What's the battery like? That can cause issues and may be worth looking into before you go replacing lots of parts.

Those 3 codes with U prefix suggest either the scanner was not fully plugged into the diagnostic port (the most common cause), the scanner is faulty or the diagnostic port is faulty. As a first step you need to get it scanned again perhaps elsewhere and make sure the scanner plug is pushed into the diagnostic port as far as it will go.

It seems to shudder and feels like its going to stall but doesnt - mainly at low speed.
Then sometimes it will just lose power and stop. Once I restart it then its ok. Anymore suggestions please?

It might also be that the ECU plugs have come loose; see http://www.fordmods.com/post1394839.html

If the inlet manifold is leaking it's usually at the bottom of number 1 or 6 inlet manifolds where they bolt onto the head. The best way to find it is too put a length (1/2 a metre) of windscreen sized tubing in one ear while moving the other end around under the manifold listening for a telltale sucking noise; do this with engine idling both when the engine is a hot and when it is cold as the change in head and manifold temperatures can sometimes temporarily close up any gap between the head and the manifold.

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or Power Control Module (PCM) is in the engine bay on the passenger's side near the windscreen it's the aluminium box like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FALC...MAAOSwSlBYzI-N and this. As you can see the plugs are underneath on the engine side. Disconnect the battery and ensure the ignition is off and the key removed before playing with the plugs or unbolting the ECU/ PCM otherwise you risk damaging it.

Thanks Aussieblue.
I was reading that there is a Technical service bullitin for BF's stalling. TSB 20/05. Something to do with cleaning the throttle body. Is there anyway I can read this? Thanks.

your throttle body is your idle control unit

Ok,
Thanks for all that. Im going to replace the battery, clean the throttle body and replace the TPS. Hopefully that will cure it. Thanks

According to the owners manual.
If your battery is 9 volts or below it will send the car into limp mode. |

It might also be a failed throttle body as it is not uncommon. See https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11479350

Yes, it was a faulty inlet gasket with my one.
Replaced it and she ran like a dream. |
