I was just wondering if my dad gives me a car worth 10k but i dont pay for it but i want to transfer it to my name do i still have to pay stamp duty??

You pay stamp duty on the amount which you list as the fair value/market vale/purchase price on the Transfer Form.
So unless you put down $0 (which they will question) then you pay stamp duty. See here for a calculator that does it for you http://webapps.vicroads.vic.gov.au/v...OpenForm#calc2 |

Im pretty sure depending on where you are you can transfer between family members without stmp duty.
