This was a topic of debate in our house tonight
http://www.smh.com.au/national/austr...19-gl31n2.html What are your thoughts See heres the thing, I'm from Sydney and until I was in my late 20's I'd never set foot in VIC But for mine it's Potato Scallop Cossie's (my kids call them swimmers) Bubbler Sausage Sanga (Snag Sanga is an acceptable alternative) Nose Bleed (My kids just call it a bleeding nose) Canteen Pants General Store / Takeaway (my kids called it a local shop) Ice Block and not mentioned but I've come unstuck south of the boarder Kabab (delicious spinning log of meat shaved in to leb bread with lettus tomato onion, etc) A piece of fish (Beer battered fish from the takeaway shop) Mostly NSW centric but theres a few odd ones

Maybe I've got a "blood nose" or, bloody hell, I'm in the nose bleed section again (ANZ Stadium) 5. Canteen = School Canteen 6. Pants: tick 7. Depends what you want to buy: Groceries = General Store or Fish & Chips = Takeaway 8. Ice Block: tick As for the humble Kebab - As described first & I could do with one right now!!

Muslims are not allowed to eat pork but that does not mean they can't sell pork products to those of us who eat pork.

We moved from vic to WA 9 years ago, potato scallops here and when you ask for dim sims they throw them in batter then deep fry them, lots of different words here, a Pot of beer in vic is a middy or handle here, ask for a slab and people are dumbfounded, gotta ask for a carton of beer, strange critters these born and bred WA lot!

No, Its an apple cake ! Nothing like tea cake with apple in it.
Yeah spot on, Ford_The_Win that's them. Beechworth Bakery call them "Granny Smiths". Murchison Bakery are the best ones I've ever had.

My point exactly Big Damo. Those people who say "its only a fish thing" seem to forget there are multiple meanings to "Cake" as there is "scallop"!!
