Has anyone got a solution for sync not playing an iPod via USB? It's recognizing that the device is there, and the iPod screen is displaying the Ford logo so something's going on, but it just sits with the "No Autoplay while indexing..." Msg and does not play. Ever. Prior to this the skip track button on steering wheel was intermittently not working, but only when using the iPod. Volume always worked with no dramas. Sync trouble shooting in the owners manual is useless... Anyone got any ideas?

I am not much help with this comment but could be a Microsoft versus Apple thing thing? Personally I would ditch the Apple thing, lesson I learn't some time back. They are way too shrouded in their own eco system and it hinders cross relationship

Have you tried a reboot of the iPod? Fixes mine 9 times out of ten.
FWIW mine had something similar, even the iPod reboot didn't work so I gave up and left it in the railway station carpark. When I got home at the end of the day it was working... ...and it hasn't happened since. Mick |

i have heard that if you have too many tracks on the ipod, and i believe that is more than just a couple of hundred, the sync chucks a spack. resetting ipod and sync clears it up.

There is a known problem. Apparently the index memory in Sync fills up after it's donethe indexing thing many times. For me, it was just over three months. When it happens, you just get permanent 'No Autoplay while Indexing' message. I had it yesterday.
Nothing usual helped: restart ipod, reset iPod, master reset of Sync. Google was my friend. If you pull the fuse that feeds the Sync (and then replace it), Sync loses its index memory and all is good for a while. (In my car, it's fuse 67, under the glove box. There's a fuse puller in the fuse box in the engine compartment.) |

Thanks guys... I have a 160g iPod, so it probably is the too many tracks issue. Bit of a pain isn't it? I've only had the car 6 weeks! Lol. Will look for the fuse on the weekend. I did try resetting both the iPod and sync already, so guess that's my next step. Thanks again!

The same happend to me but I only had a 4gb iPod. After a frustrating few days it started to index again without pulling the fuse. But it seems to always need to index the iPod every time the car is started. I then put all my music on a 32gb USB stick, Sync indexed it once and have never had a problem with it since.

Hey gang, when you have this problem, please report it to the dealer. Ford direct (through the customer service centre) are completely uninterested in working to resolvethe issue except through a dealer. If you 'fix' it yourself by pulling the fuse, then they will not even acknowledge that a problem exists.
