I like it, very nice, except that damn screen.
Why bother with the tacked on screens, a rubbish trend.

Now bring on ST and RS

I think it's good that we get the German built one this time.
Not sold on the exterior styling yet

Good thing is they have cut about 90kg of weight out of it, which it needed cause the current model is a bit of a porker.

Apparently the ST will be revealed later in the year.

Good we get them from Germany while the yanks get theirs from China

The rear end and interior are a huge improvement, starting to get over that ‘one ford’ front end though. Hopefully sales can improve.

ST-Line means it is the sporty looking one, kind of like an ST without the additional performance. I guess it would be the equivalent of an XR6 Falcon.

Edit: an article about the ST-Line

The “Active” looks attractive for the Misses and the little one.

I’ll be interested in prices, we’ll go premium but would expect a lot of content.

What's with the tacky screen trend? Just because Mercedes / Kia / Hyundai / Mazda have it doesn't make it great. Give me Audi style with pop up screen any day, or flush like BMW.

New style overall is a bit plain IMO. Remove the badge and people will think it's an i30.

I like it a lot, but I hope Ford will make manual transmission available across the board, and not limit it to performance and base models only.

A manual Focus Titanium would be brilliant.

I'd consider this as an update for the "Boss" but are they still using those dumbass auto transmissions in these and not a basic torque converter setup ?

They haven't used the dry clutch PowerShift in the Focus since the 2015 LZ update.

If you're that concerned, just get a manual.

Yes it is an ST Line, not an ST. ST Line is an appearance package without the full spec performance engine and suspension, like comparing an XR6 to an F6.

We are getting the 8 speed auto standard across the range, no manual option.

The ST will probably be manual only though.

That is a real shame.

Not many options for those of us who want to drive a manual without giving up on the gadgets, gizmos and comfort of the top spec luxury trim.

They will all have a conventional 8 speed auto.

The DCT transmission was dropped a few years ago.

I guess we will see in the release specifications but do you mean a torque convertor trans or are they now using the diesel auto wet clutch system in all models.

IMHO, if Ford don't go to lengths to advise the public in some manner, maybe as a part of advertising with a casual comment that "the new 2018 Focus has a conventional auto" etc then the past balls up may still haunt future sales.

I wouldn't touch a dry or wet clutch system as in Ford's own words they aren't proper auto's but manual clutch systems that act like an autos. Yeah right

Pretty sure it's just a regular auto. It's the FWD version of the 10-speed thats in the new Mustang and Ranger Raptor.

Yes conventional auto.

Did you miss the part where I said the dual clutch transmission was dropped a couple of years ago?

The new gearbox was a Ford -GM joint development, GM went with the 9-speed auto
for added smoothness while Ford dropped a ratio but 8 -speed is still great with lock up converter.

Ford had the conventional Joint Venture six speed auto in the Focus since 2015, the dud Powershift
gearbox was only part of the reason Focus sales are so terrible, the car is just so old now and way
past its use by date. Newer fresher competition just walks all over it.
