Install of cruise control

After receiving a fair number of speed fines, I decided that it would be wiser to install a cruise control if possible. I want to maintain automatically the indicated speed. Does anybody have a clue where can i get information and cost about this?

Aftermarket cruise controls used to be available.
They relied on magnets wired to the drive shaft with a sensor that picked up the revolutions.
These days most cars will have the electrical wiring already in the vehicle loom(s). So you would be best to look to Ford or wrecking Fiesta to pick up the required bits and pieces. Including a new steering wheel of course.

That is bad indeed. So do i have to replace te whole steering wheel? Cannot I install one more cntroller behind the existing wheel?

Well the wiring is in the wheel. I'm assuming here your car is a late model Fiesta.
You could bang in an aftermarket generic unit but you would have to wire it complete.
Check ebay for generic units.

Got a quote for aftermarket CC for our new mirage and the circa $900 cost was a little too much.

Foxtrot3 Command is a great system. Have one in my work Iload. Supplied & installed came to around $900. it does a great job, but in my opinion, a car with factory cruise control is better, as it has a cancel button!
But i would recommend the command system.

Hi. Try hitting the off button, If you dont turn off the ignition it still remembers the last speed so if you turn it on again and hit resume it will go to your last set speed. Cheers MD

Yeh, we have done that, doesnt do it. System is about a year old.

I was informed today for two guys that take care of the installation of the cruise control on my car and they are in my area (sydenham 3037). tony and tagg. Their price was 750$ and 800$. The duration of the setup is 1-1,5 hour. What do you think?does it worth it? May i have any issues?

My car is a Fiesta 2011 automatic (not wetec)

Look at the switch gear they use, and ask exactly where it will be mounted.

If your Fiesta came out with CC as an option the installer should be able to source the factory hardware (or one that's very close) and mount it in the factory location.

look at reviews on the brands of system they use. Command is the best one ive heard of.

Factory location is the steering wheel.
So you would need to replace that as a minimum.

buy a fiesta steering wheel with cruise buttons and swap it for you current wheel then go to the dealer and get them to activate cruise control. should cost only a few hundred.

Depends, with some cars the location is just blanked off with plastic like the old i30.

Then you have the old Focus, where I think the CC was attached to the underside of the inner part of the wheel.

At $47 for shipping it might be worth using that part number and giving the local dealers a call.

You will probably find that Ford will distance themselves from installing anything bought online.

I had a warranty claim for the chrome trim on my Focus steering wheel. I was told that they need to replace the WHOLE WHEEL at a cost if $1200.

I told them the trim looks like it's just glued on, and sure enough, you can buy them online for around $20. When I told the dealer about this they just told me it isn't how the part comes and that a new wheel was needed.

Why all the arguments?? It was 1 month out of warranty and they wanted to slug me with the cost of the wheel...

I'm sure the actual switch would be available as a separate item as it is a part that can fail, that's why it has a part number. And that's why I think a call to Ford Oz wouldn't hurt as the part cost and the shipping might be much the same as the local supply.
The trim may be harder to source as it's a Fiesta. I would expect Ford to do exactly as you said they did for the Focus.
