Default Diy au fairlane bumper mounted vents/daytime running lights

I made these bumper mounted vents as I wanted my previously flush mounted DRL's to sit recessed inside a grille or vent in the bumper, so I had to make them from scratch (I was toying with the idea of modifying replica BMW M3 front guard vents to fit in there).

Started with 4x PVC gutter dropper fittings and cut and joined them together.
Then cut the bumper holes, used a heat gun to mold the pvc to conform to the curvature of the bumper (took a long time).

Then added plastic leaf guard mesh on the back.

Then sanded and painted satin black, followed by fitting the DRL's in the middle of the vent.

I installed a 50 Ohm 10W resistor across the DRL relay contacts so that they dim when the headlights are on.

I think it looks OK and makes it a little different, though I may extend the outsides of the vents a little with some black paint or route out a wider cover fascia to go over the whole vent.

PS: The bumper was previously repaired so I am not worried about ruining a perfect bumper.

Ingenious! I used PVC guttering to make some storage pockets for our boat, but didn't have to go to that level of modification to make them fit. Well done!

That is a damn nice looking change. I've been wanting to install DRL lights, if I do decide to I will definitely have this on my mind. Off topic but I'm also a fan of the grey headlight surrounds as well.
