Well after a message from ltd explaining the qantas threads disappearance I have decided to start an aviation thread. This thread is for aviation news, photos and general talk. Please refrain from airline bashing. Nothing wrong with talking about an airline or manufacturer but please don't trash talk them. I am hoping there will be enough of us to keep this topic going. I am on my iPhone at work so will post some pics of my latest models when I get home.
Cheers Adam |

Alright so as stated I had some new arrivals. Some of you have seen my collection. Here is a photo of the latest arrivals.
1:200 QF A380 1:200 QF A330 My top shelf My Small international collection. 1 is a JAL Dream Express 747, another is a Boeing 747-100SR which was the demo plane. Finally a picture to show you just how big the 1:200 A380 is. The aircraft on the left is the 1:400 scale version. I was a little surprised by the size myself and wondered where it could even go. |

Heh, I was going to post this pic elsewhere, but this is a much better spot for it.
McDonnell Douglas F4E Phantom - RAAF No 6 Squadron in SE Asia livery I've also got a No 6 Squadron General Dynamics F111 on order too...should be good

That picture brings me back to my days before my dad left. He was an airplane nut, had over 1500 models. He had turned the spare room into his room with air compressor etc to paint etc. I personally was not into military aircraft as you can tell lol. I remember him building a U.S refeulling plane, re fuelling a B-52. he mounted it on Jarrah. Sadly when he left he seemed to not give a **** about them and mum sold them all for 10g. None of the 1500 he had left were built. I wanted them but mum said no. I have an F-4 phantom here that is still in primer from when he left and we never finished it. |

one day i'll go to the effort of getting out all my old planes and taking photos for you, i've got quite a collection stored safely in the shed.
I'm impressed by your late model ansett ones, i haven't had any new planes added to my collection since about 1996

You all have some really cool looking planes!
I used to have a very small Qantas replica (smaller than some on your top shelf EDfutura25) however after various collectibles being knocked off my shelves like some of my video game memorabilia (read: mother dusting), I decided I would postpone my collection and have nice things when I moved out instead |

That's a shame mate...
I prefer the military planes as they go faster and can blow more stuff up!

Some great photos boys. Good idea having this thread up and running since the 'qantas employees' one was really just a hijack in the end into gen. av. stuff..... Some of my all time fav. aircraft in here already. Love the FA 18...always have, such an underated aircraft given it true multi role capability. Canberra bomber and sabre, both great machines. And of course the F111, and best of all.....F4!!!

Love it Simon, thanks for sharing. The Yanks offered to sell the leased F4's to us in lieu of the F111, but obviously we declined.
I've been meaning to get down to Pt Cook in Vic to check out the F4 they have down there. edit - nah an F16 is a bit lame, just like the F35....

Anyone know why they painted them flat grey instead of keeping the jungle camo? p.s. that's alot of ordinance...

I've always like this one, ever since one broke some windows at home:
The F-86 that is not the FA-18. The Canberra, we have the only flying version of one of those to:

Here's a couple of pics of mine from my recent trip to Hawaii. Was soooo stoked to get to see an F-14 Tomcat. This is an F-14D tomcat aka the BombCat. It was the sec ond biggest highlight of my trip after doing the 2 hour tour of USS Missouri
Also they had one of these Beauties, The McDonnel Douglas F-15 Eagle. this is an early one without the massive fuel tanks in the fuselage. Little pub fact: The F-15 and the F-4 Phantom both have power-to-weight ratios greater than 1. meaning they can climb vertically and accelerate straight up at 90 degrees Going to Hawaii is worth the trip just to go to Pearl harbour and see the Missouri, The Arizona and the Pacific Aviation Museum http://www.pacificaviationmuseum.org/

Love the Aussie Sabre. Built by CAC at fisherman's bend, they have a rolls royce avon engine (same as the hawker hunter) and instead of 6 x .50 Cal machine guns that the american version had, we had 2 x 30mm canons in ours. (my old man was in the RAAF from the age of 16 as an armourer and has ridden in all sorts of aircraft including orions, hercs, a 2 seater mirage, a winjeel and a canberra.) I really need to go to Temora Aviation museum again soon. I could live there nothing beats the smell of burning av-tur!!! Oh and if you can spare an hour, do yourself a favour and watch this doco about the rescue of a B29 Bomber from the frozen wastelands of the arctic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFdFo9Yo0LI
