Thumbs down Sooooo we attempted to buy a G6E-T ...

Got a call from dad yesterday . waddya up too?

Let's go check out some cars .... Ok so he has my attention , we have NEVER done this!

Brochures in hand and options discussed what colours do i like i couldn't work out if it was for him or a surprise for me ... I needn't have worried because after visiting 3 dealerships.. Q-Ford, Denmac & Bremer ....

He wasn't buying anything from any of them !!

Shame because the Seduce G6E-T with Cashmere interior was coming home with us , believe it.... $51000 11 plate or a similar spec 10' model for $48K..

We got the run around on details , dad was asking about the Aug updates ??

Couldn't get any concrete info on changes if any .. so after wasting 1/2 hour or so and being none the wiser we got shuffled inside to nut out some figures..

We could have had the Seduce car straight up , but dad wanted to know possible future options (doesn't do internet or buy magazines) and we specced up a NEW one with sunroof and towbar option to compare prices..

Salesman pencilled in some figures on his note pad DIDNT give us anything in writing and said come back and see him when we were serious.... EXCUSE ME ...WTF !!

Dad explained he was serious but why cant you just tell me about the updates for the next model , i like this one (2011) i just want to know what extra fruit may be available??

Pretty hard question eh?

They wern't even trying to sell it to us ,they didnt seem to have any product knowledge at all about future models i even overheard Dad being told to wait for the 4cyl version as that would suit him more at another dealership ?!!!

My turn to talk turkey armed with the info i have learned and read on here i offered him $56000 fresh order with sunroof and tow pack give me the papers to sign now or $50000 we will take this one right now...

I Cannot do it at that price come back when you are serious... I said we ARE serious !

He said come back when you are more serious....

I now understand why people have switched to HSV .. I am embarrassed to say i am a Ford supporter when the people entrusted with making our dreams come true are either incompetant or have their heads severely stuck up their ***** !

Lucky i didnt type this yesterday i am still fuming .... Dad is now looking at a Hyundai i35 !

That is bad, but is it the product or service you want?

Your entitled to both, but these turkeys won't give you the latter, can you buy off this forum through a sponsor and maybe get a price that includes delivery?

Dad isnt brand loyal .... i have armed him with all the magazines.. all he cares about is a bit of respect !

No professionalism was shown yesterday... i have never experienced anything like this .

And i have left out so much in my post but it will get locked soon enough anyway, maybe i should apply for a salesman position with Ford ?

They need a BIG shake up ... we are going to Bryan Byrt Ford wed arvo once i get in touch with Brent they seem to have a bit of passion for what they do.....

NO way is my inheritance going on a Hyundai ........

let me get this straight, you didn't buy a car because the dealer wouldn't/couldn't tell you about features of a car that isn't released yet??

some people are just too hard to please.

You walk in a dealer and ask about a product that is not been released and a product that he cannot sell you and you want to be taken as a serious customer.

No wonder dealers are the way they are, the majority of the buying public have no idea.

I've seen some dumb threads here but this would nearly top it.

We have been to one of 'those' dealers...and concur completely...has your dad tried Pacific Ford? We found them really helpful, and actually interested.

Well to be fair what's coming out in fg2 is of no major concern to the current deals being offered. Most of the info is already out, and the rest you just have to look at the new territory to know what will be going in....the salesman could potentially talk himself out of a sale now...but in this case he seemed to handle it wrong and won't be getting anything.

Had a similar experience with one of the dealers you mentioned, had to walk off before reacting violently. Alternatively at sunshine ford I was offered a coffee after explaining I was just browsing. Sunshine's prices are a little firmer and steeper that other SEQ dealers but there service is good.

My take on this as one of the 'enemy' (a former Ford salesman) -

A car sales person without product knowledge, either their own or the competitors - deserves to be shot,
A car sales person that does not treat potential clients with respect - deserves to be shot,
A car sales person who tries to sell their prouct by running down the competitors - deserves to be shot,
A dealer who employs these types of rock apes - does not deserve your business.

The best opportunity for a sale is an informed customer - they already know most of the answers, they are in your showroom because they are serious about buying your product. Granted, there are times when there is a reality gap between what the client wants and what the salesman is able to do either product or price wise, but that is where the salesmans skills come into play to resolve that issue. Take note of the specific referals on this forum, approach the site sponsors as well - surely there are some professional sales people still out there somewhere??

At one stage while retuning from illness I briefly (and very sucessfully) sold Hyundais against Hondas and BMWs - positive sales approach and actively matching clients needs to the right product can achieve the unachievable...

I never sold a car to a client they did not choose, I never sold a car by running down the opposition, I never told a lie or even an 'untruth' to a client to sell a car, I never sold a car to a client thad did not meet their needs - to the point I escorted a client to an alternate manufacturer within the dealership and handed them over to a trusted collegue; being abused by the Dealer Prinicpal for not selling the client the wrong product led me to resigning from the dealership and leaving the automotive game entirely....

I thought it would have been a no brainer that the FG2 G6ET would get all the new goodies that the territory is getting.

But maybe some people don't read articles too much.

It may not be that the salesman has no product knowledge as you say, but that he is trying to sell the current model that they have.

Not one that won't be in the showrooms for another 6 months or so.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why your old man was keen on a G6ET but is now looking at an iX35...theyre not exactly showroom floor sparring partners??

Op has a right to complain , simple really your a customer they are a business .
Me personally I hate salesmen with no knowledge so I just change dealers ...longest streak was 4 in 2 years from 1 bloke that's right , not a good dealer but had 1 bloke that would do anything for you .ask if you can talk to someone else even at the same place , too many people who are not suited to the industry and that goes for a lot out there .you arm your self with knowledge and they can't be stuffed knowing anything about their product ....move on till you find someone who does , I have found this to be the case for all makes so good luck with your car hunting ...

Its not just a Ford dealer thing.

I had a similar experience in sorting out a new Mazda a few years back.

After telling a Penfold salesman that I was buying today, and it is between you and Max Kirwan he refused to give me a price or even discuss it any further. He told me to get a price from them and go back to him. I was stunned and actually said you don't want to get in first? No was his response. Arrogant and foolish move from Penfold Mazda.

I walked into Max Kirwan, was discussing price inside 15 minutes and had signed a deal within 30 minutes because they offered a price in writing, and then negotiated what it would cost them to prevent me going back to Penfold Mazda. I didn't want to go back them to Penfold so I knocked off a few hundred and said X price and I'll sign and put a deposit down. Deal was done.

Hyundai ix35 is a great vehicle, look at the Kia Sportage as well as they are the sister vehicles - same chassis etc. I also think the X-Trail is a cracker of a car and slightly larger inside and out.

How about having a chat with some of the site sponsors

listed bellow

http://fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=204

http://fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=223

might be worth the trip down to get the deal you would like as well as give you a road trip bonding time with your old man

just a thought

You went to a Ford dealer to supposedly buy a G6E-T, and supposedly money does not matter to your 'old man' according to your post.

Yet you try and bargain for a few $$$ on a car that is already there, then ask about specs of a car that does not exist yet (how is the dealer sales person to know what options will be on a model that has not been released yet? )

And he is supposed to take you seriously, and now he is looking at buying a Hyundai

My guess is you two came up to an experienced sales person that knew that you had no intention of buying a car, if you were serious and money does not matter you would have walked into the dealer and said, "gimme that one, here is the cash, see ya later and thanks very much"

You two were never serious about that car or you would have bought it, and you would not be looking at a Hyundai now, my guess is the sales person read your old man to a T when he said come back when you are serious.

Im with Dazzler on this one. Even an answer of "Im not sure right now, but if you leave me your contact details I can find out", or any help at all would have been good.
For me, if I dont like the service of somewhere, Ill leave my stuff on the counter and walk out and go elsewhere.
I was going to a servo that sold cheap fuel once, and the owner came out and abused me for something really mundane. I never went back, I went across the road to a competitor.

I've just spent the weekend car shopping, and a Ford was not even on the radar (well, the Focus TDCi was, but no Ford dealers open on a Sunday arvo, so there goes that option).

I have dropped a deposit and signed a contract for a 3 year old Mitsu 380 VR-X, pending lease arrangements next week. I should take delivery in the next couple of weeks.
