Default Smoking or Non Smoking.

Driving to work this morning i couldn't help but notice how many people smoke in their cars and more so with the window up.
I'm not smoker so there for i don't smoke in my car. My better half is a smoker and smokes in his car but not with the window up.
Just interested to see how many people smoke in there cars.

I used to smoke in my AU but once I woke up to how disgusting it makes the car (ie: smell, ash everywhere, discolouration etc) i vowed never to smoke in the BA and I never will.

Not too sure about that John,

I swear I saw some smoke coming from those rear tyres at the last cruise

I smoke in the car but the window is always down and I'll never hold the smoke in my left hand, always the right hand by the window. May sound like a silly little thing but it makes a huge difference to how the car smells.

Yeah i smoke quite a lot in my car(s). Only time i smoke with the window up is if its raining and i reallllly need a smoke (usually just wait til i get wherever i'm going... only so much time you ever spend in the car driving around adelaide).

In addition to the obvious reasons not to smoke. New statistics show that 49% of all discarded rubbish is smoking related. And nothing angers me more than a dipstick that lobs his butt out of a moving car. Especially at night and I wear the embers on my ride. :

I hear that. My sister keeps ending up with cigarette burns on her pants. Also, if it's cold/raining, the ones behind the drivers tend to be the one to get the night cold wind and the rain hitting them in the face.

When I had the EB, if the engine was running, I was smoking. Always with the window down, holding the cigarette out the window.

Haven't lit up once in the FBT, and it's nearly killed me.

i reckon smokers make good entertainment when your driving behind them...every couple seconds you see a hand pop out and flick it and back in it goes... to tell you the truth it looks quite stupid smokers, but hey, they are addicts :P

I don't see why people are allowed to smoke while driving. Besides for the fact the butt ALWAYS goes out the window, it takes one hand off the wheel and there is the posibility of them dropping it in their lap. Not too safe I would think.

Even if I did smoke I would never do it in my car and have never let anyone smoke in my car. Am quite happy to wait for them to finish it though before leaving.

Tell it to the pedestrian council buddy.

Ive been banned from smoking pretty much every where i go. Workplaces, resteraunts and now pubs FFS. Try and stop me from smoking in my own car and there will be dire consequences!!

Nah, im just having a lend. It is necessary to excercise caution when driving with a burning stick in your hand. Ive dropped smokes on the floor from time to time - but its not too dangerous to indicate, pull over and fish it out before anything burns.

Well in QLD the original draught of the new smoking laws did actually have private cars to be banned if more than the driver was in them.
It was taken out to be put in at a later date, its a progressive implementation of the smoking laws over 5 years, they started in 2004 so final one is 2009. it will still come.
And as it sits at the moment under legislation in QLD you cannot smoke in a workplace and yes it does extend to cars If more than 1 person in them. For instance a tradesman driving his ute from one job to another is a workplace (with a 2nd person in car).
(they may not enforce it but the laws are comming to ban smoking from private cars)
I myself an an exsmoker, I gave up in 2004 after smoking since I was 12.
It does not worry me about people choosing to smoke in thier cars but dumping the butts outside drives me nuts.

I am amazed that it is not illegal to smoke whilst driving. In my view it is as distracting as other illegal activities whist driving i.e, talking on a mobile phone. It will become an offence, its just a matter of time. It is still not illegal to consume liquor whist driving (here in SA anyway). You can suck on a stubbie so long as you stop driving once you get up to .05. Friggin' bizzare!!

Whingers?? Because we have to share the bad habit and it's consequences? Picking ones nose is a bad habit, so is it ok to wipe it on someone else? Or should I fart prolificaly in the company of others? Same thing heh? It's your body and your choice, but I don't need to share the foul refuse in any way shape or form.

I don't smoke, and don't allow smoking in my car. It annoys me when people who smoke in their car throw the butts out the window. It's really bad at night because you see what looks like heaps of sparks jumping towards your car from the car in front.
