For the AU XR6 gurus out there.......
Does the XR6 1, 2, 3 VCT/IRS sedan run a different t5 to the Hp beam axle car? Ive got a t5z tremec 5 spd gearbox and need to identify if its from a VCT as the tailshaft yoke will not release from the box.I dont want to force it. Or am I not trying hard enough??????? Can anyone confirm if the 2 cars have a differnet t5z?????? and is the output shaft form part if the yoke for the tailshaft???? cheers

The yoke should slide out quite easily.
It's possible a small groove has been worn in the yoke by the extension housing seal (fairly normal), which might be causing it to be slightly firm. Just give it a good yank. As for any differences, the box itself is identical, however the ratios are apparently a little different, with the VCT models having a slightly taller first to third, IE, a closer ratio gear set. Not quite as close as the V8 box though. This is per Ford workshop manuals, whether they were actually like this in the cars is another matter. If it was, a HP box would the pick IMO as first gear is nice and short for good take off.
