An incredible performer with his characters, especially Sir Les and Dame Edna obviously.
The only person I've seen who took the mickey out of the Queen and made her laugh doing it.

RIP Barry.

A friend of my fathers grew up with Barry told us this story.
Barry in his University Days boarded a morning peak hour train at Ferntree Gully only dressed in boxer shorts.
At each station someone boarded and gave him an item of clothing until he was fully dressed. Then breakfast started at the next station, a bowl of cereal, then toast at the next station etc.
The last item given to Barry was a Newspaper.

Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.

So many stories, the “Heinz Russian Salad” vomit being a personal favourite. His autobiographical account of struggling with addiction in More, Please was well-rendered, too.

Barry Humphries another amazing Aussie icon who has passed, many fond memories of his alter ego characters Dame Edna Beveridge, Sir Les Patterson & Sandy Stone; will be sadly missed.
RIP.
