Which idiot decided it was a good idea to make all cars for sale show "enquire for price"?

Odd. Looks like they have targeted my IP. I logged out of my account and now it shows prices.

But all the listings are all 'enquire for price' This is going to cause a shitload of time wasters sending messages/texts/phone calls to sellers I reckon. |

Both of you check you didn't leave your VPN on after posting dodgey stuff on X / Twitter / Facebook.
Works for me on PC and mobile.

I can see prices, but then it blocked me on the second page of my search, because apparently I’m a bot.
Honestly, I don’t think CarSales has got it together and they are probably on the slide downhill. |

Their share price has had an amazing run. Who could have known that all of us us staring at cars online would be the boom of the future?
Edit: forget lithium miners over the same time period, chortle

Same here, cannot see prices unless I drop my VPN connection.
They also seem to be tracking if a user is blocking some of their tracking cookies via a DNS sinkhole. (Noting that some organisations are using upstream DNS protection.) Options are to keep hopping between exit nodes, or to set up a sandboxed web browser just for looking at Carsales. Just a wild guess ... but I suspect Carsales are doing this as a combined antifraud measure and to better track who is looking at what on their web site. The tracking stuff being trained at the typical buyer these days provides good indicators as to their net wealth, willingness to buy, etc, etc. Truly frightening stuff. |

So I wasn't far off with the VPN theory?
Carsales has been cracking down on IPs recently. Neighbour of mine had a side hustle buying up beaten up cars, fixing them, then selling it. Carsales recently banned him saying he was acting like a dealer but not having a dealership account. He tried to create a new account under his wife's name, and they banned her immediately

Obviously, if you use incognito or VPN to hide your details, it considers you suspicious.
Just another way for them to track you and monitor preferences |

It's an annoying issue which occurs for me when viewing saved searches. and must be due to something they've recently done with re-jigging the site.
The workaround I've found is to edit the search, maybe tick on something obvious like "sedan" as the body type, or sometimes even just confirming a single criteria that's already selected. This almost always makes the prices show again. |

It blocked me from browsing again today, quite a stupid website really. Imagine if Colesworths wanted personal data before you were allowed in to shop.

Question for those with Faceache membership.
Can you filter Marketplace cars by registered or not registered? CarSales just punted me again, I was browsing G63 listings. |

They're already losing market share to marketplace.
If they continue this BS it'll just accelerate |

Agreed. I went to sell a car on Carsales the other day: ranged from $245 to $570 to advertise - WOW! Went straight over to FB, advertsied for free and car was sold. Re the prices not showing, I get that too. I've just stopped looking at Carsales for now, they'll soon change, just like Photobucket (Photofail).

I wondered if others were recalling Photo***kit. “Revenue is falling! We must raise prices extortionately!”
