New 7.3 litre V8 is now available as a crate motor. Bit more expensive than I thought it was going to be though. Can't wait to see how this engine goes once people start modding them, and throwing boost at them.
https://www.enginelabs.com/news/i-th...gine-released/ We’ve talked about Ford’s new 7.3L big-block engine — nicknamed “Godzilla” — both when it was released and when ProCharger announced its supercharger kit development . While ProCharger’s release of both a Fox-body and truck application confirmed that they saw what we all saw (a great engine-swap opportunity), finding one in a junkyard has been no easy task. Ford Performance saw the same potential we all saw and just released a crate engine version of Godzilla aimed directly at performance enthusiasts looking to put a modern big-block engine into anything their heart desires. While the cost of entry into the Godzilla-swap game is fairly steep — MSRP is listed as $8,150.00 — being on the leading edge of something is rarely cheap. The Ford Performance crate engine version of Godzilla is very similar to the production version as far as specs. However, you would have to order several different part numbers to get everything needed for a complete engine. As delivered, the crate engine is advertised as having 430 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 475 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, thanks to 10.5:1 compression and port fuel injection. The engine has a forged-steel crankshaft, aluminum heads (with great porting potential), and comes with the intake manifold and throttle body assembly, exhaust manifolds, ignition coils, and wires, and the same oil pan, oil cooler, and flexplate as included in production F-series trucks. For control packs and engine accessory drives, Ford Performance asks customers to call its Techline, but we know for certain that the aftermarket is currently working on plug-and-play solutions and Holley EFI systems can be adapted to run the engines now, with a little work. While a potent package out of the box, it appears that all facets of the aftermarket are embracing the 7.3L, and judging by what we’re seeing, Godzilla will soon be a force to be reckoned with. |

Those power ratings are for Super Duty, the same calibration in cars and F150 is 460 Hp and 500 lb ft.
I think that's about 345 Is and 675 nm. Might be fun in an older Falcon. |

Enter US engine builder Katech, and its new LT5 Track Attack crate engine, which was released to the world earlier this month.
According to Katech, its latest creation makes a cool 864kW (that’s 1159 horsepower in old money), and 1441Nm. Even in the heaviest of vehicles, that’s going to get you moving at one hell of a rate. https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/gm-...out-of-the-box

Probably similar fuel ecomomy, cheaper to repair as well.... "But you can find Land Cruiser parts anywhere". True, but the money you'll save you can extend your trip out fir another 3 weeks anyway

Even more impressive considering the heads are stock castings with a cnc port job, plus the cam and compression aren't optimized for NA.

Yeah I don't know what exactly is ingenious about it. It's cam in block like ford V8's were for about 7 decades.

A controller for the 10 speed is great, it is mentioned in the article that Ford will be releasing an ECU for the 7.3 that will also control the 10 speed, for engine swap application.
Id like to see the transmission control side of it eventually become available as a standalone, to run that box in other things. |

YES "All Godzilla motors are assembled at Ford Performance’s engine plant in Windsor," It's even made there. PS: the video where he is talking at Watson Racing in Michigan, I'm pretty sure the ED XR8 Sprint motors were built there.

I reckon it would be quite a bit taller than an efi 302. I know it's no heavier than a 5.4 DOHC.

Pushing past 1400 hp with a blower. Makes 800hp NA set up for boost. Potential to make 900hp NA if optimized for natural aspiration. Heads are ported stock production pieces, stock crank and block. These engines will make great power will minimal mods. |
