So much for Falcon having a good month making up for those hail damaged cars.

Commodore usually outsells Falcon 2 to 1, coupled with getting all the backlog of hail damaged cars from Christmas plus all the amazing deals they have been doing - I wouldnt be suprised if Falcon was just pipped for no.10 slot and so would maybe have around 1500 sales for Feb. Just a guess.

Good job by the Focus. Right up the Camry's clacker.

Focus competes with Corolla but you are right in that its suprising to see Camry where it is. Its becoming irrelevent - no wagon, no diesel - its like this Camry came straight from the late 90s. The one thing saving it are government and rental fleets.

You pretty much summed up the Falcon as well in that statement.
Focus sales are good, but well off the leaders in its segment.

Toyota local manufacturing may look like it could suffer more pain. Just 1875 camry's and Aurions sold (altho new Aurion due out soon). Thats only 85 cars a day (20 days month) for local consumption. With the rest of production going to export (and probably not profitable with $A), one assumes they are bleeding alot of money at the moment.

I think it's our countries high standards that put off manufacturers. Wages, employee protection... yada yada yada. All good for us of course.

But US dollar is just a tad less than us... but on parity. And they are starting to make more cars there now then in recent years.

Saw a focus hatch again today in the flesh, its a great looking car.

3000 commies...WTF

Mind you I guess Ford is thinking that the Tez is a Falcon wagon really...so I can see how adding them together perhaps works? Tez would be a bit of a cash cow wouldnt it?

Id love to know how many sportswagons are selling, and how many SS's (V8's) are part of that 3000.

On last years figures about 115 SS/SS-V Sportwagons a month. Can't see it changing much.

Cheers

Territory is fine. Going off the top ten it would have to be the top selling SUV.

I think Prado was number 1, but it beat Captiva and Kluger.

Pull your head in. Prado sold 1424 to be the number 1 selling SUV in the country and the Territory was 1400 units, just 24 sales behind. Yeah terrible. Not. It's bloody good actually.

The Territory sold over 1600 units in its better months so yeah its not a flashy number ... also with all the back log the model had due to all the issues in January I was expecting to see a good spike in the numbers ...

nah, not too many sales or forward orders on Falcon, Territory deliveries look like being held up by one to one build with Falcon.
March sees return of four day weeks, there's four that I know plus Labor day in Victoria

Holden didn't too badly considering Commodore and Cruze sales combined hit 5,871.

Surely the Falcon can't keep going at this level, there can't be any excuses this time around. Christmas was months ago, the hail storm is old news, there is nothing else that should be holding back the sales numbers. Sadly, this may be the best that Falcon can achieve, through to 2016.

Im concerned about the Falcon ute - there is nothing on the horizon in terms of product development to see its sales pickup, especially as the dedicated LPG Commodore is coming out. I would like to see RTV return - it could really re-invigorate the range.

Why do you need to develop an RTV, when Ranger is there with a higher ride and better wading capability and it has a Diesel to boot.

Its surprising because the ute was always a good seller even in the AU days it held up well against the Commodore equivelant. What has changed now or is it because of the popularity of the Hilux segment?

According to Ford research the number 1 complaint buyers have was lack of ground clearance, but tradies and fleets put up with it as there are other benefits of a Falcon ute. However now the imported utes drive a lot better and are faster so the buyers have moved on.

Also ute buyers want diesel which you cant get in the Falcon, and for performance they want a V8 (again not available in the Ford branded utes).

Never going to happen. Falcon ute will die before sedan the way things are going... Ford had planned this to happen with the updated ranger, they don't want Falcon ute and Ranger side by side, they only want Ranger.

Sad really.

Personally I think the segment is massive enough to sustain Falcon ute and Ranger together side by side, they are different enough from each other to both be a useful vehicle in the range.- but I agree I think Ford will drop Falcon ute.

Not when you have to prove to Thailand an order book, thats the problem if they cannot take enough Rangers they will fall down on the list. Plus more and more tradies are moving to dual cabs (dual purpose), the days of buying a single cab ute are falling...
