Default New rotors and pads for BF Super Pursuit ute

Hi Matt,

I've got a 2007 BF FPV SP ute. Done 13,000kms and 3 track days.
6 pot Brembos on the front, single pot PBR on rear.
On the last track day last week, I noticed a slight shudder under brakes so am thinking to take the opportunity to upgrade the rotors finally with either DBA 4000 or 5000 series.

I'm not sure if the disks are warped/hot spotted or if there's a build-up of brake dust that needs to be cleaned, but either way the calipers and rotors will come off.

The current factory Brembo combo that is on there is terrible for brake dust, especially on my white Cobra wheels. What is the best pad for the DBA disks for spirited driving/track work please? Also, is there a low dust option?

Cheers,
Joe.

Cheers, just did a search on the Redstuff pads and they sound good.
But I'd like to support our sponsors where I can.

The EBC Redstuff brake pads are about $250 delivered here in OZ but these are really just a performance street pad and do not always run well with the DBA rotor as a combination.
There are really no low dust pad options for both street/track applications although the Hawk ceramic pads would be similar to a redstuff at $265 delivered but as mentioned they are more street orientated than track. If wanting a pad just for track applications the starting point are the ferodo DS2500 pads for $300 a set and work your way up the ladder from there.
The DBA T3 4000 rotors are pretty good at $600 a pair and the 5000 T3 2 Piece is a better choice again at $990 a pair and these will be available soon.

Hi Matt, thanks for the reply.
No, a performance street pad with the occasional track day thrown in is what i'm really after.
I'd go the Ferodo DS2500, but hear they are terrible for brake dust.
I really do want a low dust option as it just drives me crazy... I spend hours cleaning the car and wheels and they are covered in dust again after the first drive, seriously.

I'm liking the sound of the BDA T3 rotors... so would the Hawks be a good match for these rotors?

Unless youre going to swap out those hawks for your track day(s) for some proper performance pads, then put up with some dust! Not like you drive much going by the ks on the ute.

Those hawk things are not suitable for track pads, i bought some and threw them in the bin after their one and only track day on the scud. To be blunt, they are garbage on the street as well. For the money, ds2500 are the best all round compromise. I punish them and still get 15k out of them.

Seriously, dont compromise hi temp hi endurance stopping ability for the sake of a little dust.

Matts original recommedation is spot on.

I'm hearing you Tex, but on a white car with white wheels the dust is an issue, even with the low k's that I do.
Will the Ferodos at least create less dust than the OE brembo pads?
Mind elaborating why the Hawks were garbage? Have heard otherwise good things about them elsewhere.
Cheers.

The Ferodo's are similar in dust to factory. The Hawk ceramic pads are low dust and what your looking for on that level and the funny thing is we do have customers who use the Hawk ceramic pads for street and light track work but they are aware of the limitations and drive accordingly. Maybe you need to try the Hawks with some decent hi temp brake fluid and find where your limits are on the track and make the decision from there. At the very worst you use the Hawks until they wear out and then fit the DS2500's.

I disagree strongly that the hawk ceramic pads are crap.

I had these of my ute and after a couple of good stop these pads are terrific!

Can't say for track use but as far as dust goes its pretty much nothing

Performance = dust - fact of life.
Don't want dust, you'll be stuck with crappy pads.

I'll add to the prior recommendations, DS2500's. Good on the street for all but the coldest of winter morns, and hold up to anything I've been able to throw at it on the street - my discoloured callipers are testament to the abuse.

Matter of fact I'll be placing another order for more soon. got some track days coming up and need a fresh set. May go the DS3000's now it's no longer a daily drive.

Thanks Matt, I think I'll be doing exactly that.
I might even grab a set of the DS2500's to use for track days. Can't hurt to have them.

Another question... Anything to be gained by upgrading discs/pads on the rear?
If so, what to?

Cheers again.

Of course there is it is always beneficial if you improve the braking all round but if the rotors are ok just leave them on until they wear out and and put some Ferodo DS Performance pads on

Are all three of the above-mentioned pads available for the PBR single spot calipers?

And the T3 4000 series rotors?

Only DS Performance in the DB1675 shape for now
DBA T3 are available in the 328mm rear.

Hi Matt, just out of curiosity, what disk/pad combo do the V8 Utes run?
I know they use DBA, but which type?

Also, when you make new braided brake lines for the rear brakes, do they come with new mounting brackets (the one that is riveted to the chassis)?

Any chance you can also make me up a braided clutch line?

Cheers, Joe.

Not sure what brand of pad but could find out.

Yes we supply new rear brackets

If there are no odd fittings i could do the clutch line but i would need a sample.

Bummer. I'll have to wait till my next swing home to fit them up then.
Does this apply to the T3 4000 series slotted rotors as well?
Let us know when back in stock.
Cheers Matt.

Sorry my mistake before but here is the correction

DS2500 pads for the front 4 pots are $300 a set
and
DS2500 pads for the front 6 pots are $375 a set.

Hi Matt, no worries 'bout the error.

Cheers for sorting out my order with Wayne.
Lookin' forward to getting the good gear on my Ute.

Cheers,
Joe.

What's the difference between the 4000 series T3 rotors and the old slotted 4000 series rotors? Are these available still?

ok so Ive got a BF V8 non XR ute.. I need to replace the rotors.. I can pay $60 for brand new stock ones.. and they work.. if I wanted slotted etc.. are they purely just for **** factor when it comes to everyday use? IE: unless I participate in track days is there really any point in upgrading ?
I do understand that with more power you need better braking power.. but again this would be in racing situations.. right? because the ute slows down perfectly fine from 175kph (thats where it cuts out) but I dont see myself racing everywhere I go.. opinions./advise would be appreciated.. insults will be returned.
