Default come on fordforumers!! buy a new falcon

People all this inuendo about falcons dead, etc etc etc.

Fact is today its a better value proposition than it was 20 years ago, having barely gone up in price and offering so much more.

If 15 years back ford said for $50-70k we are gonna offer a supercharged v8 or a turbocharged 6 cylinder both of which make around 300rwkw and minor mods will see near 400rwkw. Or even a xr6 turbo or fairmont ghia turbo for mid-high 40s

You would have literally dropped your coffee and bolted into your local ford dealer to sign up even blindfolded.

Sure not everyones financial position will allow such a purchase but with some planning surely in next three years we can all buy one of the falcon variants (new).

Whats your future plan to buy a new falcon? Otherwise whats your reason not to buy?

Im going brand new GT, GS or F6 within 3 years. A keeper weekend driver.

Yeap same with me. I graduate this year and the cars in my sig will not be around for ever. The missus is first, she prefers manuals and the falcon is to big for her even though she does drive the AU. Catch is we will have 3 kids..so room needed.

The exception to this rule would be a XT/G6 TDi..she has this thing in her head about TDI's (old mans Golf TDi probably)..but a ZF TDi would be a great daily and we would forgo the manual thing.

Me on the other hand, I just dont see the value in buying new. The only way I would is by leasing and AFAIK you cant mod to much and the greens are having thier way so the incentives are less.

What I do plan for is a second hand (wow might be a tad older than that now) FG XR8 and rip the anchor out with some US muscle.

The F6 is awesome, but Im not in a position to blow $60k yet, XR6T would be the only car i would look at the moment. And its a great car. If I decide to import a 11' BOSS302 stang once they come down a bit for my V8 thrills then Id look at a XR6T for a daily.

Thats my plan anyway...but I dont know what state ill be in yet, let alone what car I will be buying.

House loan, wedding to pay for etc sorta rules out new car buying...

And my fiance would be happy with a Focus XR5 (not because of the perfomance, but the looks) or a mondeo...

Me? If I was cashed up...a Supercharged GS of G6E turbo? Ranger? Who knows?

No plans ever to buy a Falcon, doesn't suit my needs.
I will buy what best suits all the criteria we as a family of 5 needs.
It may be another Territory though.

I would buy a Falcon as soon as I can afford to have a daily and a weekly driver.

I'm going for an interview friday afternoon for a job which entails allowance for a company car, undoubtedly would be choosing an FG XR6 (If permitted), otherwise a basic standard white XT sedan or ute if need be.

Unless they already have a deal with someone, a Falcon company car is the way to go

That is the worst excuse for not buying a new car i've EVER heard

(hint, if you own it new, you can determine how stiff it is by the way you drive it)

Personally
i'm about due to replace this one, but i'm not looking forward to getting another loan to buy one.
it would be nice to keep this one it'll be extra nice when it's a 40 yo classic,
it's currently in good condition, but it's nearly 5 yo, so that's when the problems will start to appear (Y?N?)

Seriously not everyone can afford to go out and buy a brand new car! Would I love to? Yes! Will I? No. In the next 3 years I hope to be able to save enough to put down a deposit on a house.

We bought a 2010 Fiesta Zetec brand new and still have 3yrs worth of repayments left.

Not all of us are blessed with whatever financial position you are in that allows you to buy a $60,000 - $70,000 Falcon

Not going back to the ford stable anytime soon. Very unhappy with my last purchase, she's back to stock and will be sold soon. There's no 5litre V8 falcon so will be going the VF V8 when it comes out, if its not a lemon.

Everyone on Ford Forums doesn't like the car that built the company!!!

Sure I don't have a new falcon, but i WILL go for a NEW falcon IF I get this job.

Things like stiff for the first 10,000kms won't matter when youre still driving the car after 300,000kms.

Hot Hatches are a sure fire way of shrinking male appendages, and congrats if it makes it to 100,000kms.

There is so little enthusiasm about the car market, and I don't understand why!

I need to share enthusiasm with everyone on the thread

Who can afford it these days? It'd be nice to have a brand new Falc but by the time I can afford to spend 35k on something that fufills the same fundamental purpose as a cheap used car, they will have probably gone out of production. I'd rather not be grossly overmortgaged like the rest of this country.

Wow.
Thats really going to help Ford out - sometime in the next 3 years.
If you really wanted to help, youd put your money where your mouth is and buy one now.

Wouldn't matter if everyone on AFF bought 3 each, it would make not one iota of difference, its dead, Detroit know already, they just won't admit it.

It will take a couple of thousand extra sales a month to save it, and thats impossible with a parent company that refuses to support it.

Does any one not see a paradox here...

Everyone acknowledges that Falcons are an excellent reliable car, what proves it is how many of them are left on the road.

If everyone is buying used falcons instead of new falcons, and ford goes broke, well, eventually there won't be any more used falcons either!

I'll buy one in a few years because it will be the last, the 2014 upgrade (if it makes it that far).

I'll keep it till I die.

i bought my BA ute with a 10 to 15 year plan depending on how well it holds together.
it will be 9 years old in june and has 190 000km. it still looks good and drives almost like it did when it was new. i have hardly needed to do anything other then normal running wear and after a good detail last week it still looks great. so it looks like i should get my 15 years out of it ok.

i have house morgage to pay off before i am too old and decrepid to work so unless i win lotto i cant see me borrowing more to buy a new car. sorry.

i would love a new GT-P to put in the shed for special occasions but the bank account has other ideas.

Nup, no wagon sorry Ford...
I wont list where my money will go but if/when (haha) i win lotto...and if the Courier dies/is dead, Wildtrak Ranger in orange please.

Till then, i dont exist to Ford. Or any car manufacturer.

To me, Falcon died long ago anyway... Pity really...still glad we have plenty of used RWD 6cyl 8cyl Falcons and wagons and LWB variants that we can still buy on the used market.

Between multiples of mortgages, high cost of living, paying for IVF etc and being on a single wage for the past two years (and hopefully 5 more ), I just don't have room in my budget for a new FPV or Ranger - which are the only two variants that excite me.

Ill be happily buying a G6ET in a year or 2. Very happy with my current FG turbo and was very happy with my trusty BA turbo before that.

I cant believe the combo of power and economy I can get from my FG! Sure, an Aurion, Maxima or Liberty will pip it on economy...but the effortless power n torque puts it waaaay ahead. The 6-spd auto is fantastic!

(Ive driven a new Maxima, it had a better seating position, but the delayed throttle response before gas starts hitting the cylinders made no sense.)

Does Ford get more value from selling XR6T's or F6/GT's??? Prodrive would take there cut, so is it better for Ford to sell a Falcon or an FPV???

Whilst the Falcon back in the 60's 70's 80's and even into the 90's was touted as an all round family car, those days are long gone. With the range of far more family friendly vehicles these days we don't need to settle for something that may not fulfill all our needs.

We can still be FORD enthusiasts without being Falcon enthusiasts.
Last time I looked this wasn't Australian Falcon Forum!!
