Thousands of factory colours used from 1960 to 2016. I liked the light blue colours.

I don’t find colours speak to me so much as the whole; it’s the shape, poise and trimmings which seem to mix well with particular hues. Even then, my mind would specify a lot of non-factory stuff.

I like most colours except red, and dark shades of black, grey, silver etc.
It depends on the model though. 70s was a wonderful era for colour. 90s was a lot more bland. I don't mind gunmetal grey as a colour, but visibility is a big factor in what I'd consider. 70s had pine lime, plum, yellow etc. and on the respective models, was totally ace.

Green is my favourite colour, but on cars it has to be the correct shade. So darker for green not kermit green.
My 1st car (not a ford) was paint code 23u. Paint nerds work out the colour and atleast brand of car. It was a 1998 model |

Love Reef Green on the XW GT’s.
Modern cars Sparkling Burgundy on the EL GT’s.

Depends on what model for me too.
First pick is Reef Green (I see Rob already chose that and on the car I picture it on) (Dad had a Phase 2 in Reef Green so thats where the love came from). Coupes are unique in that so many colours work, even pink and white. I always liked the Apollo Blue with silver highlights, but I'd still drive one painted brown with a roller. My 5L EB was Polynesian green which was my favourite colour of that era. And white really works on the later G6E variants. |

There are three main attractions to a car for me; the engine and how it sounds being at the top, followed by exterior styling, and then exterior colour. I mention that because I love colour so much that choosing one would be impossible. I've actually made a spreadsheet of Ford's locally made cars dating back to the EA Falcon, including paint codes, metallic or non-metallic and what models each colour was available on.
So, in order of their appearance, these are my favorites. Venom Red - This circles back to when Geoff Polites insisted on putting some pizzaz back into the Falcon, bright colours being part of that strategy. Most would site Blueprint being first here, and it certainly garnered attention, but I think Venom Red started this trend and was used heavily in Ford's XR6/XR8 marketing. I also prefer Venom over Vixen, Venom had a deeper/richer tone to it. Offered from mid-99 to Nov-03. A Venom Red T2 TE50 or AU III XR6 VCT sedan have always been a favorite combo of mine. Barossa Red - My first car was an AU III Fairmont sedan painted in this colour, it positively glowed in the right light. Barossa was brighter and richer than Sparkling Burgundy and Luscious that went before and after it. Barossa was offered from at least Apr-01 on the AU II and carried on to Apr-03 on the BA. Citric Acid and Blood Orange - These colours were nuts! Where Holden had one "hero" colour per model cycle, Ford threw caution to the wind and had several. Back in 2003, I got a ride in a brand new FPV GT and XR6T Ute in Blood Orange, and Acid Rush just looked wild. Citric Acid came a little later in Jan-03 and lasted to Oct-04. Blood Orange debuted for the FPV launch in Mar-03 and ran to May-04. Menace - Look, I know this is very out there, but I love the audacity of it. Understandably, not many cars were made in this colour, which makes it even more desirable now. Only available on XR and FPV, Menace ran from Sep-05 till Aug-06. I loved this set against orange stripes. Bionic - Probably not a colour I would choose, but for some reason, I really like how clean this colour looks. Bionic ran from October-05 on very late BA MK II's and ran till Dec-07. Octane - Such a brilliant colour, it looked good on anything Ford used it on, be that a BF, BF MK II, FG or its reintroduction for the last FG MK II'. Octane made an appearance on the BF in Jun-06 and ran through until Apr-09. It was brought back in Oct-13 and ran till Oct-14. Always loved this colour with black stripes, but an FG with Tom-red stripes looked ace as well. Sensation - Well, obviously! What I love about Sensation is the crazy metallic it has, it positively glows in the sun, or turns deep in the shade. Sensation is the perfect shade of Ford Corporate Blue. This colour actually launched on very late production BF MK II's and was available across all models bar the FPV Force series. Sensation went into production in Apr-08 and ran until Dec-10 on Utes and May-11 for sedans. In early 2008, I was debating the choice of Nitro, Ego and Sensation. While Ego and Nitro were nice colours, nearly every FG XR6 was painted in Nitro, and nearly every G6E was painted Ego. Sensation turned out to be unique. These two image are what sold me on the colour! I still have this poster on the wall.................... Mars Red - More of an orange than a red, I really liked the uniqueness of this colour. Introduced in Jun-12 on the FG MK II, it carried through until Jan-14 and was available on XR and FPV. Emperor Red - Again, obviously. I agonized over this colour choice, my other short listed colours included Smoke and Kinetic. Nothing against them, but Kinetic was too common, so was Smoke. Emperor in the photos appeared "muddy" and lacked the pop of Seduce that ran until Feb-12. In the end, I took the punt and ended up falling for it big time. In the sun, it has a gold flake to it, in the shade its glassy smooth. Emperor launched in May-12 and ran until the factory closed.

XW - Diamond white: what a contrast with orange striping, black roofs, deep cherry red or black interiors.
Combo: Any combination with GS striping is horn. XA - Wild Violet, contrast with pimping white interior. Also Lime Glaze. XB - Apollo Blue, with lighter interior too XE - Plain white, but with the S Pack. It contrasts beautifully. And there's some wild shades of brown in the interiors with black highlights on the dash and steering wheel etc... ED - Polynesian Green, great colour around sunset time, you can lose the green into a black as the light fades, lovely contrast with the Sprint's Tickford interior which is a lighter colour Combo: Tickfords with the red bumper inserts were horn throughout 90s. Sprint got black. AU - Blueprint on those final runout XR8s is so distinctive. BA - Phantom meant business, and was so fresh at the time. It said, 'we're going back to muscle and loud colours like the 1970s', and arrived at just the right moment in time when the 2nd muscle era really kicked in, it was perfect with it's partners in crime Acid Rush, Citric Acid and Rapid Yellow BF - Menace on XR6 was great at launch. Fantasy was the most amazing, changing colour. Like the spraypainters were on the mushrooms. SX-Y - The two tone treatment with a goldy/grey on the bumpers, was a nice highlight and suited the times and the new car. Ego/contrasting gold/grey bumper is nice, particularly with the light Eucalyptus interior which has aged well. SZ - Emperor Red, a lovely rich red FG - Breeze. Love it. Bright and teal. FGX - Victory gold, total hero colour. What a contrast to today's black, grey, silver, white fleet of cars.
