I am about to buy a new Ford.
I've been offered a Protektiv Hydro package. Does any one know about it. Inside and out for $2800.00. Only needs to be done once and has a life time warranty. I'm suspect and probably should go else where Anyone with some experiance or opinions on this

This is what it says, its the one Ford use. I have seen some comments about it and some say go to a specialist and not the dealer, cheaper for one. and I need to research the best product

I've never heard of a ceramic coating that claims lifetime warranty! That would be something special

Basically a waste of money, there are superior products that are applied by experienced professional detailers who know much more about and do a much better and more reliable job applying these products. |

$2800 is a rip off. You should be able to have paint protection applied for about half that.
I paid $750 for Ceramic Pro paint protection on the outside of my Mondeo. I would imagine that interior protection might be that much again, but that's still about half of the $2800 you were quoted.

I think you will find with paint on a car lifetime warrenty is 5 years.
You can by ceramic coating and appy it yourself or a quality polish to do the same job.

I've never purchased paint protection on any of my cars but thought I would give it a go this time round. Got the Protectiv protection from the ford dealer in a package with Window tint.
You can do MUCH better on the price. Haggle it down. Under $1500.... Car is now just over 2 months old with 5000km on it. I love the paint protection. Nothing sticks to the paint, its really easy to wash and the water beads are huge. After 6 washes it still has the just polished shine to it. At this point I can recommend it. How it will hold up in the long term? - don't know yet.

Do it yourself or go visit Damian at Final Inspection. They have some good (albeit expensive) products. The Full Metal Jacket is probably what you're after.

Anyone who has paint protection, let me know how good it is when feral kids pile out of the car next to you and smacks their parents car door against your car.

Paint protection (Ceramic coatings) are only a few microns thick, so won't stop damage from door dings in car parks.

Looks amazing once done though, as it's a self-healing clear coat that is scratch and crack-resistant with a high gloss finish. However, I did get the door handle cups, door edges and rear bumper sill done, on my Mustang, protecting the areas that get the most contact from your passengers. It is really is "invisible" once installed, and you would not know it was there unless you looked very closely at the car from a close distance. |

For that price you may as well spend more and get the car wrapped in clear film. A new car with minor imperfections in the paint shouldn't cost much at all to be ceramic coated. You can get some entry level kits such as Gyeon Mohs for $130 and do it yourself if you take the time and care.
Just noticed you're in Lilydale - There are plenty of professional detailers that could do a better job than a dealership for less than half of what they are charging you. A one step quick correction and ceramic coating should set you back $500-$1000 depending on who you see.

I applied Gyeon myself and was very happy with the results on my car and my wife’s. Both were new cars and I didn’t want any correction or buffing of the top coat.
Did them both over a long weekend. |

The Ming chick tried to convince me to spend another $2k on paint and trim protection for my recent aquisition.
I listened intently for 10 minutes as she explained how the world would end without it then casually explained that many years ago i did new car pre delivery detailing and regularly applied standard polish to vehicles purchased by people who fell for the Ming Mole rubbish but apparently that would never happen to people who bought her product...yeah, gotcha. She then offered to throw in tint for the same price, i said how much is the tint alone, $495 she replied, i'll take the tint, you keep the rest. I know, i know, its expensive tint, but im a sucker for a pretty lady thats hated by everone else in her workplace. |

50% of the cost quoted is straight commission into Ming moles pocket.
Then the dealership gets a massive cut then the bloke who actually applies it spends 2 hours ****ing himself laughing that another sucker paid way over the odds for $50 bucks worth of products. I say go ahead and get get it done. Last edited by GasoLane; 04-11-2018 at 06:06 PM. Reason: Don't try to avoid the censor |
