You can fit a Pinto block with a YB head, however the mods required will cost more than just buying an old 205 Pinto block which will fit straight up. Considering 205's were used in everything from Transit vans to Sierra Cosworths, they are plentiful. I picked one up last year for $50...

Escort and Cortina blocks are the same to look at as the 205 blocks, 205s weren't used in any Aussie built cars, imported only. 205 blocks are slightly stronger than the AU version, still nothing wrong with the AU block. Cosworth hand picked the better of the run 205 blocks for the Cosworth engines.
The Cosworth head will bolt onto the pinto, standard port size for turbo or ported for a twin webber setup and solid lifters also new cams for carbie version. You will need new pistons and new drive gear for the crank and one for the dizzi pluss new cam belt. Go to a book store ask them to order a book writen by 'DES HAMMILL' How to power tune FORD SOHC, Speed pro series. |
