Default Running on Empty

Just bought myself a copy of the classic 1982 Australian movie Running on Empty. This has got to be the origianl Fast and Furious where older guys like me did not grow up with Gran Turismo. This was made just after Mad Max 2 was released (1980). Anyone who hasn't seen it or knows about it, I recommend you get a copy and watch some classic Australian and American muscle get destroyed. Here are some screen grabs to wet your appetite or to reminisce and say "yeah I remenber the black Dodge and 57 Chev"

If I remember correctly - if you look carefully just as the Monaro lands, the bonnet flys off and you see the six cylinder sitting there. Also look at the two photos of the red GT above - the shaker is sitting at different heights.

I'm being picky but yes I'm another big fan of this movie.

There are a few stuff-ups in it actually.

Bite your tongue! You've got to appreciate a classic, regardless of the badge on it. The 57's were a credit to their era. But anyway, both the XY and the Chev were the highlights of the movie ... BOTH! :

This movie enspired me to build a blown engine for my xagt & 15 years later its the cover car in street fords mag.

This is an Australian master piece & should be a question in the citizen test.

What car starred in running on empty( multiple choice)

A great simple classic Australian film, I think half the fun in older movies like this is picking the inconsistencies. Such as when the XY rolls of the back of the truck it is a AUTO not toploader, different slotters, no GT badge etc... Every time I watch it, it makes me want to dust of my XY and go cruising.

Hmmmmmm Debra Conway! :

This is a classic and a must have for any true blue Aussie rev heads .there are so many classic lines from this .

Rammer:- "Ok Cheryl, get ya gear off "

Cheryl:- "Oh not now Ramma. Your so slow we'll miss the race"

I could go on for hours, but I wont. Cause I'm gonna go home right now and watch it!

That's right mate just my opinion. If you have the need to attack people feel free. It's good to see that non judgemental people live in perth. But then again i guess Running on empty is still being shown in the cinema.

Everyone has a right to an opinion but there's no need to be a grumblebum in a thread where everyone is enjoying the movie

Ay? Sounds like she's got a wobble in the bottom end. You been given her a hard time?

You're puttin' on the agony, mate, but you're missin' all the style!

She's a 351, right? I've got some nitrous oxide injection 'round that's a sweet sensation.

Mike, i got those flares, for the pv.

There got computers now that can recognize your voice.

So many more lines, its a classic film
