G'day Make of this what you will
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=m...hrome&ie=UTF-8 You can read the term 'marriage' both ways.

Rare for me but I'll shut up and say no more on this except

MARGARET COURT WAS AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND OF A TENNIS PLAYER..
We've never had a female player come close since although an honourable mention to Evonne Goolagong -Cawley
It'd be pretty petty to rename the stadium on these grounds too.
Keep religion opinions and sport separated.
Cheers Rod.

Everybody has the right to an opinion, but these days if you disagree with the beige cardigan mob or the politically correct suck ups then your either a racist or a grub. She has a right to say what she likes, the court was named after her because of her sporting excellence which by the way has nothing to do with SS Marriage.

While I don't agree with her views she has every right to them.

That's the trouble these days, anyone who doesn't agree with the 'popular' view is shouted down and bullied for being a bigot or racist or American.

The way she was treated on the project the other night was disgusting.

Don't agree with calls to rename the stadium ... it was named in honour of her sporting achievements. Nothing she says can undo those.

Thought the plebiscite would have settled the issue. Still scratching my head over the Greens and Labor with Xenophone voting it down. I would have accepted the result and moved on, but as time goes on it appears the LGHJHGGSDSFS lobby and elites don't trust the people. Maybe support is less than they claim.

Don't know how she'll be getting around seeing as all our airlines support marriage equality

But everyone is entitled to an opinion. You don't have to agree with them, and I don't agree with her. But you don't get to bully people for having a view.

The trouble with a plebiscite is that examples of what we just saw with Michele court and her interview on the project will be just a tiny fraction of what will happen.

Both sides will get more aggressive in their preaching that their way is the only way,,and anyone with a thought of their own will be completely ignored.

Waste of time and money.

Fair enough. So you trust our politicians to decide the issue?

Would not the public be more accepting of the outcome if we all marked yes or no?

Really, my point was the plebiscite could have been done and dusted if Labor and Greens main interest was marriage equality instead of politics. It would have passed like it did in Ireland imo.

The one thing about politics is it always wastes time and money. Why would you object to money being spent on this particular issue?

So what if people put forward passionate arguments for their cause. Isn't that what democracy is about? Should we be scared of a debate? Should we shut down debate on the grounds of hurt feelings. Like any issue there are a range of issues and views. We should never suppress views we should encourage expressing them.

This is how concensus is reached.

Thats why you vote them in, to make the big decisions. You can't hold a plebiscite for every contentious issue. At some point the Australian public has to make their govt actually govern. It's not a popularity contest.

As for the point of being scared of a debate?
Of course not, the trouble is the modern idea of a debate is exactly what you saw on the project the other night. One person being ganged up on and ridiculed because their opinion is different.
All a plebiscite will do is ensure more of that, from both sides of the argument.

Oh, and the big kicker? A plebiscite isn't even binding. It literally means nothing.

If you really think it's an issue each voter should be having their say on then it needs to be a referendum, done at election time.

And just in case you're thinking I'm against gay marriage, I'm not. I literally don't care because Im not gay, nor am I religious or married and the very idea of marriage is somewhat antiquated in my opinion.

The vile tantrum throwing progressive left don't, despite them claiming the moral high ground for tolerance and acceptance. Well, as long as those views are in line with theirs.

Perhaps prime time media could grill Islam over the homophobic, sexist ideology. Recent events in Indonesia could be a prime example for it, only problem is that it contradicts their inconsistent hypocritical narrative.

I don't have the same view on gay marriage she does but, but to have her questioned from 4 or 5 different angles in rapid fire tactics because she doesn't have the same view is poor form

I don't watch the show often as it's the same tactic for many and varied causes that don't fit with their left wing idiolagies.

About time he only time I agree is when Carrie pushes her brain cancer charity

And yes I think wallied is the biggest toss a on TV today

Ever listened to Hadley or Jones or any of the other right wing commentators.

They do exactly the same thing.

I don't agree with her treatment but that behaviour is not something exclusive to "progressive" commentators.

The left and right are exact mirrors of each other. They have partisan views, ram them down our throats and cry like little snowflakes when the "other" side does it.

She's a person, she's allowed to have an opinion.
The responses to it are way over the top and unfortunately becoming too typical these days.
I want to know how an entity eg. Qantas, Tennis Australia, can have an opinion.
I have no problem with a CEO or a janitor or a shop assistant having an opinion but none of those has the right to demand that their entity has the same one.

Maybe the Margaret Court Arena sign could now be made larger...
