Default Please don't laugh at me...

But I need to know something... will a commodore (VN-VR1) 5 speed box fit in a Falcon? Will it physically go into the transmission tunnel?
I'm don't need to know about driveshaft differences or bellhousing differences, those modifications can quite easily be made.
Also, does anyone know what the differences were between the Borg-warner T5 and the Tremec T5? Gear ratios, synchros, etc?
Any and all info would be appreciated.

Considering the VN 4 speed can be adapted (which is a path I very nearly went down), the 5 speed should be a piece of cake. If no one here knows, have a word to the guys at http://www.malwoodauto.com.au/ because they do the 4 speed kits and would know them backward...

Gear ratios are different, not sure about the input shaft.

I know on Camaro T5 boxes they have a different extension housing, not sure about the Commo ones.

But that aside the T5 will fit, only issue I can see is shifter postion (no doubt a Falcon extention housing and shifter can be used) and input shaft.

Isn't it the TH700 boxes that you can put in the Falcons?

Yep TH700 is the one... 3 billion light years ahead of the 3 speed it was initially competing with, it made the VN a couple of seconds quicker to 100 and using a couple of litres per 100 km less in the process. Loads of aftermarket support and good highway cruising are other features. But the BT-R with a decent diff ratio is a more refined thing, which is what won me over.
