Looks fine, just the front end, either the bar and bonnet don't sit well with the headlights or they have simply moulded the mustang lights onto the FG-X front.

I think the Mustangs being a lower car (overall height wise) than the Falcons (70mm less in stock form), will give it a great advantage in handling and cornering in the Supercars series next year, especially after the teams work their suspension magic.

yeh but Supercars run a common COTF chassis so per the rules the roof height will be the same as the Falcon, Opel and Nissan.

It's the reason the Camaro project has stalled because they were not prepared to raise the roof

Racecar 100mm higher fit with regulations apparently. Narrower too.

I bring to you Mark Skaife's legacy or should i say frankenstein? Where's the sexy long bonnet and super wide track that the mustang in renowned for???

V8 supercars seriously has to vaporize and the majority of it's viewers whose demographic mainly consists of those on top of the mountain....SOBER THE F up!!!!

Frosty moving to Charlie Schwerkolt Racing in 2019 it means he probably won't be racing a Mustang shaped V8 Supercar.

Kind of looks like an oversized Aussie Race Car with its slightly off proportions.

Still happy to see it race though!

PS surely every external element is bespoke bar headlights, front grille, taillights, and rear garnish?

If it was the butchering of the Mustang's proportions that delayed Ford giving the green light for the V8 Supercars teams to make the switch, then I can see why they were a bit concerned. It looks a bit weird from some angles.

Will be interesting to see how the Camaro will turn out if that's the direction GM want's to go.

Something not quite right about that body, the rear quarters for starters (which look amazing on the road car).

I'll hold my judgement until all the camo gear comes off and it's in a proper racing team livery. The camo is designed to fool the eye.

Having said that, if it wins I don't care what it looks like.

On one hand, to have Ford back supporting Supercars is great for the sport and the Ford faithful fans.

On the other, the control chassis has absolutely ruined the Mustang design. There is no kind way to put this but it is frankly horrible. The wind screen is too big and doesn't lean back enough. The roof is too domed, the front end is too low and the side profile has lost all of its definition.

I really hope all of these changes in the iconic Mustang design language prove to be a winning combination.

The only Mustang thing about it is the giant sticker.
I’ll reserve my judgement until I see it out of camo.

Sorry to say it guys but that is the most disproportionate supercar i've ever seen.
If thats as good as it can look i'd have run a Mondeo im afraid, it is seriously unflattering to the Mustang name.

Even with the road car the new look was controversial . Most criticism was on the front more savage bonnet drop off and headlights compared to the 2015-17.

Overwhelming dislike on the face of these camo shots on AFF . I can't disagree either . I think though we're comparing it just yet to the lovely proportions of the FGX race car which would be hard to beat in that regard . She was/is a beauty and kills the ZB Commodore in that matter as well .

Bit like a couple of others comments , I'll reserve my final thoughts on the car until it's in race livery and on whether the aero package will allow them to be competitive .

Looks is one thing but secondary to how the car shapes up on the track next year . We'd better get used to it because no more Falcon so Mustang look is how it will be .

Not me Roddy, i didnt even consider FGX when looking at it, i just looked at what was presented and saw more NASCAR than Supercar, it is the furthest from the original car than any car in V8's history from my perspective.

Via this video from earlier this year , the livery aspect can be envisaged a bit but it doesn't factor in the COTF issues though .

Bonnet is way too short compared to the road version. Combine a tall roof line, the overall design is compromised. Really don't know what the Ford teams can do to make it look any better.
