Mate I used 10W-40 (Castrol GTX Magnatec or GTX3 I think it was) in my 1989 TX5. New oil and cleaner can only do so much and the noise comes back not too long after. I looked at getting some replaced but my mechanic said that as soon as you replace a few, you can bet the rest will go not long after and you'd have to pay labour again.
He said do the whole lot in one go or don't bother if you can deal with the noise as it's not worth the money and it was a lot of $$$ but not sure on exact cost. I had the same oil you're using now and the Castrol stuff was better. So I went thinner. Basically if you want the noise gone, in my experience you would have to replace them and unless you can do the labour yourself it's probably not worth it. |

as above
replace the lifters with new lifters and check to make sure oil is getting to them with the colder weather warming up the engine will be required

Had tried thicker oil and replaced it because the lifter were making a noise. Changed to the thinner ones and the noise went away. Overhead cams do not like old oil either.
