I have a series 1 with about 270k's When I changed the col pack I disconnected the battery so I still have to do a re-set thing,, it's the speedo that is now worrying me hope you can help so I can get any parts that I may need today cheers

Have you tried putting the old coil pack back in to see if the new one is the source of the problem?

Undo the electric plugs on the side of the transmission, and give them a liberal spray with RP7/WD40 etc, then reconnect. The speedo has nothing to do with your coil pack, and everything to do with the transmission plugs.
Did you take it for a drive? Did the speedo work properly?

it seems that the problem with the speedo disappeared after I done the re-set and took the car for a drive, thanks for the help and advice it really did help. as I have never had any problems with the car in 10 years and it sort of worried me a bit, what a difference a new coil pack and leads make, its like driving a new car again.
cheers

Glad to hear you have fixed the problem. I had never heard of that problem before. Does the new coil pack make it seem any different (apart from starting first time)?
