Well, its still ugly like the rest of Mazda's cars with the current design language.
But its not as ugly at the original based on the PX. So its newer but makes less power and torque than the outgoing model with Ford's 3.2L I5. https://www.caradvice.com.au/858500/...arousel&slot=0 https://www.caradvice.com.au/858179/...oms-this-year/ |

Sorry Franco Cozzo, but I like it.
Then again, I'm a Mazda tragic. But a dirty filthy diesel (as I put on my flame proof suit), I hate the damn things. Wonder if a petrol version might come later.

Had a tougher look, how they're all cutesy and have this BS half soft/passive look about them with squinty headlights that seem out of proportion to the rest of the car. I'm a Mazda fan too but I'm not a fan of the current design language. |

Its a bit smiley but the headlights are larger and the body is more angular I reckon they're much better than the current gen Mazda 3.
The front looks like someone with constipation trying to take a **** The back looks like its missing chromosomes. Bring back the smiley face |

Hate the damn things too. But the isuzu is the only one in the current range that should do 500k kms.

A dual cab post mate, I see your coming around?
My first thought is its a very smart design, IMO will eat Amarok sales a bit as its a posher looking DC. The glamour trades will love it. Good on them.

Looks like it might be a good way to get isuzu reliability with a bit more refinement from the mazda side of things.

Need to see one with flares and bigger wheels.
I am also wondering if there will be a MUX version at some point.

I think it looks ok. I'd prefer a Ranger though if I were in that market.

With a new Ranger (and sister Amarok) due next year offering hybrid petrol and 6 cylinder motors, the Mazda will be back behind the 8-ball again when comparing drivetrains on offer.

I don't think that the idea was to ever attract Ranger or Hilux buyers in serious numbers but I'll be curious
to see how the new BT-50 settles into the mid field. I'm half expecting it to surprise a few critics by taking a bit more market share away from Triton, Navara and the departed Colorado. The Mazda corporate nose is polarising, so most will either like it or detest it but for me, it's a step above the origin vehicle's styling. I have this image of T6 engineers looking up from their work stations, smiling and shaking their heads, Mazda said that Ford didn't have the maturity of design knowledge to execute T6, how the mighty have fallen. from the previous fly catcher but clearly, the intent is not to capture Ranger/Hilux buyers who as you rightly say, prefer the tough look. Colorado sales void is up for grabs for those who want it and BT-50's new looks could play well in that respect as well as giving the other brands something to think about. In the end, it won't matter to Ranger and Hilux because they're way out in front with sales. |

I’m possibly going to be in the Cab Ute market later this year. The new BT-50 is at the top of my list.

they have the same old isuzu truck engine isuzu has had for 15 years?
Not that thats a bad thing, I just sold a current shape one a few weeks ago, that I had done 240,000km in and was still perfect. Actually the way the engine runs, its cruisy, quiet and has lazy power over a fairly large range of the revs. MUCH MUCH prefer this engines behaviour to the newer smaller engines like in the Navara. I cant help but think that a dmax 3.0 will go for 500k km without a problem where as a navara 2.2 or ford 2.0 or VW 2.o will be lucky do do half that. |

BT50 finally looks a heap better to me....about time they got out of that woeful 1st gen design front end.
As for the current Maz3, can't agree Franco, test drove one the Astina top of the line with the buying sister on Sunday. 2.5l sounds good but not enough go for me but overall its a very nice daily commuter for types likes my sister. It was in Pearl White with the black wheels/accents looked pretty good to me. Interesting feature when reverse parking I noticed, the passenger side mirror tilts down so you can see down the line of the car and gutter, even though it has sensors/camera thought that was a good small addition. Will be $39kDA, shes a Maz tragic 4th one, never a prob.

Didn't Fairlanes have dipping mirrors far earlier than FG? (I have a feeling around NF/NL days?)
