Apparently the owner was on site in the early hours and 3 blokes broke in, 1 of the blokes copped a .22 from the owner.

That's going to leave a mark.

Hope the owner isn't in too much trouble and I hope the guy recovers.

Too late for that, suspected intruder found dead at the scene.

Oh. Not good. Can't imagine there is much of an excuse for having a firearm in your panel shop..

It could be where the pwner stores the weapons.

Interested to see the outcome and what charges will come from this.

As much as I loath theft I do feel sorry for him.

I must admit I would have rather the thief got shot in the a*** and carted off to jail
Then again if he had stayed home this thread wouldn't exist

No sympathy for that thief. If you want to steal other peoples property, for whatever reason it may be, eg: drug money, entertainment, revenge; then you deserve to be dealt with harshly, especially since courts/judges seem to be letting everyone walk free these days.

Unlucky for the owner who will probably have to face charges even though he was protecting his & others property from thieves.

Being dead is a bit of a harsh penalty. While he brought it on himself, it's still sad.

You're probably right and losing his life is a bit harsh but at least there is one less scumbag who is willing to steal other peoples hard earned possessions walking this earth. If it went to court he would've been free within the week and that frustrates me to no end

Life seems cheap these days, fingers crossed the owner doesn't get treated too harshly by the courts.

And someone out there is now grieving a lost brother, son , father whatever. Whatever his intentions it wasn't worth a life.

No winners in this. A guy is dead. The other is in a world of trouble. Just defending himself in court is going to financially ruin him.

All over stuff

the owner has been charged with murder and remanded in custody. Based on the limited information that has been released to the public being charged with murder and remanded in custody sounds harsh

Doesn't murder mean you planned and set out to kill that person ?

The don't know anything at this stage tony. Just that the guy admitted to shooting someone.

They'll revise the charges in the future when they investigate.

if he has been charged with murder ( not manslaughter) so quickly I seems there might be more to this story. I'm thinking more like gang war or something similar but time will tell, we can all theorise till the cow come home but we will have to wait till the facts surface

It was not that long ago the bank tellers were given handguns to use against bank robbers.
And when I say not long ago, I mean the 1980s.

In the 1990s there were a couple of celebrated cases in GC and Bris where robberies went wrong and the "victim" shot the crim. In each case there was no conviction or punishment as the coroner found there to be no case to answer.

Of course we are now far more civilised and know that if our lives are in danger we just have to hold up our phone and tell the crims they are going to be on youtube as that will save us well until the Police turn up a couple of hours later and charge us with misuse of a phone or causing mental anguish to the crim or whatever.

My person views on this sort of thing:

It is better that his relatives are grieving his death than my relatives are grieving mine.

Pre meditated murder means you set out to kill someone with a plan, murder means you killed someone and not by accident, unfortunately you cant just shoot people in australia and id say the guy will see a long time in jail.
Im not defending the crim but nobody deserves to be shot and killed attempting to rob a premises.
Happened to a car restorer here in perth a while ago, exact same situation.

I must disagree once he decides to invade someone else's property and steal he should have no rights and if he is shot and killed it is just an occupational hazard of being a low life oxygen thief.
he made a decision to embark on a serious criminal activity and knew there were risks if caught he gambled with his life and lost. why do some of you whinge when these people are killed or injured? they raise our insurance premiums and make us feel insecure in our own homes one less low life to steal our property is cause for celebration not cause for sadness
