Hi Guys,
The new 2011 Volvo XC60 T5 features the I4 EcoBoost engine and the 6-speed PowerShift gearbox that the Falcon is getting towards the end of the year. I had a look at the Volvo website and the car’s performance is reported at 8.1sec (0-100) and 8.7ltr/100km (combined fuel consumption) with the Volvo weighting 1740Kg. The Falcon in its I6 configuration weight about 1730KG and considering that the EcoBoost I4 is expected to bring a weight reduction of 80 – 90KG it seems that 7.7sec(0 - 100) and 8.2ltr/100km is not out of reach. Opinions? |

0-100 times won't mean a whole lot to the type of buyer its aimed at. more important will be the mid range torque. no doubt the zf will do a good job of keeping the engine in its sweet spot once you are up and going.
8.7l/100km is similar to camry. |

XT is 1690kg, so the 4 cylinder should be around 1600 to 1650kg.

just glanceing through the wheels car specs in the back pages , thats a reasonable time for a standard family sedan, if those volvo times are on the money, haveing a best guess that would give the ecoboost falcon a qaurter mile of low 16`s, possibly high 15`s on a good day, ie 6 cylander performance, i don`t think it would match the pace of an xr6 or sv6, but should account for its self well against the lower spec versions .

Also being 4wd there are economy and performance losses there that the Falcon wont have.

I wonder if Ford will manage a better torque figure ... the Volvo is only 320nm and even though its flat its still a bit low i think.
The falcon should be more aero dynamic i would think but without actual specifications for both cars its hard to say which is better ... I want an EcoBoost thats cheap to buy and has a great modifications potential like the I6T |

So how are these holding up on the 2nd hand market?
If we find a cheap one, are they worth considering, or does a cheap price simply indicate it has major problems? Did these have problems with their DSG? |
