AU rack seperating from X member

Hi guys.

I know they recalled the au falcons due to the studs in the X member. But today we had a car towed in with the steering rack hanging from nothing, from what I can see the left hand stud has broken and the weight and load on the other one has resulted in a split rack mounting point on the RHS resulting in totall loss of steering and a collision with a car.

Has anyone else here had this problem or know of it ?

I am in NZ by the way, tried them, tight lipped.

Any past experiences with this or if you know someone would be good.

I"ve seen it some of what you describe a few times, usually the rack cracks after a run in with the gutter, eventually a bump or the like will be the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak.. I've never seen a stud shear off though, they are thick booker rod..

Thanks, the LHS stud is gone, leaning me to the fact that went first and the rest was aftermath. Lucky he was going only 40 Kph when it happened.
