Nude volley ball..interesting concept. : The games themselves can't be as mind numbingly boring as the games opening that is on at the moment....

What a waste of public(taxpayers) money...it would've been better spent on Health, education and roads.

ah surely the amount of money coming in for business etc etc would offset most of the costs. And then theres the future income from marketing melbourne.

But yeah....I dont liek the olympics much these days let alone the commonwaelth games. one eays fix though...republic

I wont ever be interested in a huge sporting event like the Olympics or Commonweath games.

The only reason why I watched the 2000 Olympics was because it was in Sydney.

I thought Athens 2004 was sh*t.

I dont have high interest in it either. But dont forget - a lot of those athletes are training seriously hard and making sacrifices that I sure couldnt to reach the pinnacle of their sport. Im not gonna bag that.

I agree, as much as the Commonwealth Games doesnt draw the same interest as the Olympics, you can't take away from the commitment the athletes put in to get to that level. The opening ceremony though......hmm.

I agree with John though, the cost is extravagent. I was talking to a friend on Monday night as he packed to go into the athletes village on Tuesday. For 3 days of competition, he has been given uniforms and training clothing worth around $10k. Multiply that by the 470 odd Australian athletes, and that is a massive bill, and that's just to cloth them!

....mind you, I like the sound of the after parties I've been invited to

Marketing melbourne surely you jest that is impossible...the offset of cost to tourist dollars is beyond belief...they don't like melbourne

I quite like the fireworks bit, maybe they should make it 2 hours worth of fireworks, a huge bonfire and trying to setting fire to stuff in there, always work a treat on camping trips!

Was excited when i saw that House & NCIS were still on until i worked out that they were repeats so spent the last two hours making lasagna with the wife watching hte openings. Looked pretty spectacular, but not up my alley.
Wonder how the blokes World partition is going for the vertical bar to become a sport in one of these events, would increase profits

I found the same .... so I turned ABC on an laughed to "Little Britain" for half an hour.

Mind you the repeats of House and NCIS was still much better than the crappy Opening Ceremony.

It wasn't enough that the Commonwealth Games have started, but they had to have jets flying around every 10 minutes! I swear if I heard that damn jet one more time I was going to shoot the bastard down! out:

Luckily for good old ABC, Spicks and Specks, Little Britain and The Glass House. Absolute saviour. :

Cheers,

They introduced netball and lawn bowls to keep us interested....... :ymca:

Bring on sports men will want to watch.

I can say I didn't watch one second of the opening ceremony. I will not watch any of the games either!
