I'm a bit surprised no thread's been started on this.

Am I the only one noticing the lack of a great atmosphere so far in the game? Maybe the crowd will get a buzz if QLD hit the lead, or hit something.

Or maybe the rain's prevented any risk taking.

NSW (or it's media) were so sure of beating QLD has got me favouring the underdog tonight.

I got sent these photos from a guy in Queensland that has two pups from me - I now understand the significance. Was lost on me until this moment! I also don't think these two appreciate the underdog crack!

How cuuuute....

That's it! Just what this game needed, a slater try. Another QLD try in this half would set the 2nd half up for a ripper.

Ray Warren needs a rocket up him: he doesn't sound interested.

QLD is a powerhouse. Don't mind the new blue Idris though, good to see him score a try on debut

Of the last 10 State of Origin series, how many has Queensland won?
By memory, they have been dominant.

QLD are enjoying a golden era at the moment and need to capitalise. only a NSW person could call that QLD side 'underdogs'!! there's some big names in the blues but about twice that in the maroons.

i think the score line was a bit flattering to NSW in the end.

Yeah I reckon the Blues did alright in the end, they played plenty ordinary again. They didn't get flogged in any case. Same stupid mistakes as always.

NSW need a 5/8th sooo bad... Brett Kimorley was the best man in a beaten side...

Move Gidley to the halves and play Hayne at fullback.

Mal SmellyFinger and Hagan thru JT and Locky carved up the out of postion Hayne.
Brett Morris and Isa didn't even see the ball on that side of the park.

As I see it there is two major problems with the Blues pack.
1. Team needs to be put together with the Blues in mind, not the Maroons.
2. They're from NSW!!!!!!!!

hahahahahha!!!! QUEENSLANDER!!!!!

well he was in position tonight and sweet FA. I reckon Hanye is a bit of a choker when the big games are on the line. Didn't do too much in the GF last year either. There is a reason Slater is the national no.1.

Yes, and I think that is why he won't coach NSW at the moment. He can see what he would have to work with. Bellamy is a great coach, no doubt about it. The one thing Gould would love to have in any NSW side is passion, and that is what the NSW selectors don't get; that QLD passion for Origin was brewed over years of having our own players used against us until 1980. QLD has had black days in Origin and will again. It's just our time right now so I am going to soak it up.

NUP wrong buddy... I could never.....NEVER get sick of watching the Maroons flog NSW! Love it. I think this is the other difference between Qld and NSW in Origin. Even when we lose, we still love the rivaly. Before this streak I had to endure text messages etc for the NSW series wins before our run since 2006, and I did that because I bever lost faith in the Qld side to turn it around. As an example they were advertising reduced priced tickets to the 2 games in Sydney this year on the Footy Show before game 1, and Game 2 sold out in hours. Even when Qld was losing, the games were still sell-outs. That's passion. When your FOGs have to get up and beg your supporters to turn up, well that's NSW problem right there. Every since the first game I went to in 1987 as a 13 year old I could watch a QLD Maroon-wash every year, while the NSW selectors pick 40 odd players each year looking for an answer. Be patient, as a NSW supporter, your time will come eventually and it'll be you being all happy and us Qlders swearing and cursing. Besides, what are you going to do? Say NSW will not play Origin anymore? That would be admitting beyond doubt that Qld has the best footballers.

I heard a radio interview with Bellamy this morning - he was asked if he was going to change his game plan for the next game. He said "no".

Suits me ...

Slater (not Slatter) played well, this series has SFA to do with Melbourne Storm and the salary cap stuff.

Queensland were the better team, they played wet weather football, played 80mins and deserved the win. the Blues lost this game in the selection room by picking 4 centres, no 5/8 and a right side defence that was out of position all night. if they arent stuborn and fix the mistakes (which they wont) we should be competitive in games 2 and 3.
