Default Sierra XR4Ti

Hi guys!

I am about to buy a Sierra XR4Ti. This car has a 2.3l Pinto engine. Parts are hard to get for this type of engine in Australia, just wondering if anyone knows anywhere in Aus that sells them?

Also...how hard is it to put a 2.0l Pinto into it? Remembering it has a ECU...

Thanks

this is immac and its got the RS body kit so it looks like a cossie.

I;d go back to a 2.0 coz parts for the 2.3l are almost impossible to get in Australia.

i have an XR4i which is the 2.8 litre V6. loads of torque, sounds sensational, drinks fuel at the rate of 10-15mpg and is a complete bastard to get bits for. just about everything has to come from the UK. i have been waiting for 9 ommths for tie rods...1st time the container arrived, they hadnt been packed, second time they sent the wrong item, hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky. nice car though.

How many engine parts do you plan on needing? For normal servicing stuff just get a box of goodies sent out, enough to last you a while. Ideally find someone shipping stuff out with some spare space in a container or something.

I have to say though I wouldn't really use it as a daily driver or only car.

Technically it's not a Sierra. It's a Mercury Merkur. The Sierra never had the 2.3 engine, which was shared with the Mustang and T-bird turbos. I belive that only the crank is different, longer stroke on the 2.3.

Hi there,
I don't know if you have got your XR still, but if you are still having problems getting parts try a company called rockauto in the US.(rockauto.com.) I had an XR4Ti for two years and spent a lot of time and money on it only to have a 4x4 ute write it off last year. I also had two sapphire cossies, one 2wd and one 4wd many years ago, so I still have contacts with RS breakers in the UK if you need any parts. I would also advise you to keep the 2.3Ltr motor as(in my opinion) it is far superior to the standard 2ltr motor
