Default any ideas of transferring cars interstate?

Hi everyone'

Im in the process of buying a car and i was wondering if anyone has bought a car from interstate? Im located in melbourne and if any victorians have done so, how is this process done? I mean with the transferral of the car, does it have to be passed on from there which i think it is and once it has come down to melbourne, is there anything else that might have to be done?
