As time progresses I notice an increasing number of non Falcon and Commodore police cars. I don't know how often these vehicles are renewed but suspect that the Falcon and Commodore based police vehicles will soon all be gone. The last one should be put in a museum when the time comes to retire it from the force.

Even if it was say an unmarked Commodore ute or similar from Tassie Police?
And where would you reckon this museum should be? Last edited by xxx000; 26-12-2019 at 07:36 AM. |

That must be getting close now .. It's two years already since the last Commodore was built . I think it's 50 or 60 thousand clicks isn't it or thereabouts ..
I believe there are some old classic cop cars that are well cared for and looked after now going by another AFF thread that still sees action . |

The last one would have to be from Tas, you don't do many Klms driving round in little circles.

It took a day before the chase that overtook me along Reid HWY came in the news:
https://www.9news.com.au/videos/nati...3q0gseur59fesm Apparently towards the end of this 50 minute chase, 15 - 20 police cars participated. Still mostly Commodores, some Falcons, some new Commodores, some Camrys and a few Hilux. Oh by the way, someone in the car behind me filmed the back of Wife's X1 that I was driving at the time (at 0:56 in the clip). Cheers, Last edited by happy1; 28-12-2019 at 05:23 AM. |

This museum would be appropriate, it has the last Falcon off the production line and some of the cars from the Ford Discovery Centre that is now closed.

I observed a police pursuit on Reid Highway westbound today. One 1990's Toyota Previa / Tarago was being chased by 10 cop cars.
Mostly Commodores, Some Falcons, one Camry. About 2/3rd of them were marked. The Tarago turned North at the intersection at Balcatta, then must have done a U-turn and came back again, and cut past more red lights onto the freeway south with all the cop cars behind it. Later we saw the helicopter closer to the city, probably near North Perth / Leederville. I'm surprised the police vehicles simply didn't just bump into this car to take it out much sooner, but allows the rough driver to continue across red lights etc. Maybe the officers enjoys having a pursuit now and then in their last Australian made vehicles, and didn't want it to end early ;) Cheers, |

There is a VF HWP car in the Coffs Harbour area still, but it would have to be up for replacement soon

The last day be will probably be the commo in Sydney that does the special escorts of high ranking visitors. Last year when prince harry was out there was a ve2 doing it. Apparently they don’t do many km’s so stick around lingers. They are also in old hwp livery

the Kiwis seem to keep their police cars a bit longer then us here,
Last year in November when I was over there, they were still using the ve commodores! so if they have any of the last vf's in their fleet, they should still be using them for a while longer |

I still see a few of them on the road. But they are now clearly in the minority.

Still plenty of Commodores around here. Though the Subaru's and VW's are starting to make more of an appearance.

Who would pass up a look at an old XD or HZ cop car in as in condition when decommissioned... Syndrome that Commodore looks like a VF. Kiwi cops are still running VE dog Utes. Probably because there is no suitable replacement. I don't think I've seen what is to replace the Holden ute for dog work. |
