Default USB Capacity?

Hey

Does anyone know if the USB has a size capacity limit in the new Fiesta Zetec?

Thanks

Daniel

Thanks Candy, I am looking at buying a 32GB stick. Does it say anywhere in the manual about the usb/car's audio player maximum size limit it can read?

Also how well does the GUI work with folders etc when using the USB stick?

Hi mate

Will have a look in our manual tonight when I get home.

As for the GUI - works really well. Just like navigating with Windows Explorer.

Even lists non audio files like pictures (which don't open obviously). Would be kinda nice to be able to display images on the MFD though, even if monochrome

Can portable hard drives be plugged in too? Assuming no capacity limitations.

I'll try our 320GB unit tonight.

Don't see why it can't as it can access the 120GB drive on our Ipod but maybe it needs an interface for the drive format on portables.

Will let you know.

To tell the truth, can't remember mate (didn't notice).

Again, will check tonight. Seem to remember the folder names were cut off short/abbreviated but not sure. Will let you know.

OK

Shows 15 characters in the file list on the drive.

When you select a song it shows the full tag - everything

I successfully read mp3's off a portable 120gb HD.

Was not able to try a USB drive bigger than my 8GB one as that is the largest I have.

Automatically starts playing when you plug the unit in too (either that or it remembered the last track I played ....)

Hope that helps

Woooo ok thanks Candyman.

So your USB hardrive was formatted in NTFS? and is it partitioned at all? and did it read the folder structure just like your USB stick?

Cheers!

No partitions, NTFS. Read a folder I had placed on it with MP3's. Didn't go any further than that sorry.

I'll try our other HD tomorrow but I'm getting nervous about plugging all these powered devices into the USB ....

Yeah good point, however its only reading from it. I can't imagine it would draw too much current?

Well, was weird, the other HD wasn't picked up.

The folders showed up but no MP3's ....

Tried the other HD again and all good.

I think I'll stick to the Ipod and thumbdrives.

As for capacity, my 120gb Ipod is almost full (has a lot of podcasts too though)

I have plenty of playlists set up and I'd use most of them during a week.

Not all songs are played but I like mixing them up (which is why I use Genius a bit too on the Ipod) so I can see why 32gb thumbdrive would be useful

That is what the wife is going to use in the Zetec

You'd think 32gb would be plenty considering thats 8000+ songs!!! LMAO. Thats a lot of time in the car. Probably about 500+ hours, or three weeks. Hahaha

All depends of course on how you rip 'em. My iPod currently has just over 900 songs and has used up 8½ Gb. All my Mp3 are at 320 bit rate.

I was just using the standard 250 songs per gig. You buy a 4gig ipod and it tells you its gonna hold 1000 songs. So in your case thats 3000+ songs on a 32g usb, and 8.5 days. LOL

Yeah I rip all mine at 256kbps so the file sizes are fairly large! Hence the need for the largest possible USB stick (at a price!)

Bit weird Candy about the two hard drives tho...
