Default Cruiser Dieselgate

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...scandal-report

Is this similar to the VW scandal, or just a difference in peak output measurements?

Anyway, URJ202 ftw.

They all do it, just have to follow a late model diesel at highway speeds and you can see them puff out black smoke every few minutes, they would all be cheating the system in some form or another, VW got caught, now they are investigating Toyota because they fudged some crash data, If they went and checked every manufacturer they would find discrepancies in all of them.

The difference though is that Toyota is self reporting.
It’s worrying because the problem is across multiple plants and engines….

They knew they would be investigated after the crash test fudging, much better to admit it before being caught for it.

Yep, you can't get modern diesel engines past emissions, and everyone cheating on emissions just proves it further.

Cummins to pay record-setting $1.675 billion US environmental fine

WASHINGTON, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Truck engine maker Cummins Inc (CMI.N)
, opens new tab has agreed in principle to pay a $1.675 billion fine for installing devices on hundreds of thousands of engines to allow them to emit excess pollution, the largest-ever civil penalty for a Clean Air Act violation, the U.S. Justice Department said on Friday.

The Department said Cummins allegedly installed so-called "defeat devices" to bypass or disable emissions controls such as emission sensors and onboard computers.

I have found it quite interesting that on Youtube etc, a reasonable number of Youtubers have been gushing all over the new 4 cylinder 70 series Landcruisers. It's as though they are on a mission to promote the new engines. Apologies, but I'd rather have the V8. Will be interesting to see how these Youtubers/Influencers deal with egg all over their faces over this little fiasco.

Never underestimate the significance of Toyota influencers on YouTube,
I’m sure that positive messaging doesn’t go unrewarded….
What we used to refer to as some annoying fanboi is probably getting paid
to push the messaging as a grass roots type thing

Go look at the one in the 70 series, its not the twin turbo spec version you have its hobbled - the 4 cylinder 70 series tows and drives better than the V8 spec, and it'll be more reliable too

So if you are one of the unlucky ones(and there are a lot) you will have replaced the turbos and injectors all before reaching 150,000 klms. But if you drew the Toyota short straw, you will be replacing the motor because of a dusting issue because of 2nd rate air filter system. There must be a high number of these, as Toyota bought in 3 containers of pre paid V8 motors in 2022.

Us mere peasants think this is a lot of money, but in reality its just a Pee in the ocean for these big global companies, I'm positive they will recoup the fine amount within a few months tops and move on to the next lie.

Absolutely but I wonder if this is the kind of thing that turns off enough customers to start hurting…
Sure, they’re trying to stage manage this but maybe there’s too much crap to hide…

I think you will find the only people that care about emissions enough are the people trying to enforce it, the average Joe Blo just wants the equipment to get the job done to feed his family, emissions of his equipment is the last thing on his mind

Mostly, except for the flog Greens voters in Melbourne, nothing offends them more than your choice of vehicle

They're currently in a full scale war on American utes, news articles hitting the mainstream media every 2 seconds drumming up Greens voter outrage about how dare people own such preposterous vehicles, and they're trying to take them from their owners cold, dead hands.

You know how WA wants to become its own country? How about we make Melbourne its own country instead and kick it out of the federation

Oh know the WA feelings well...

It's almost as if Melbourne needs something tangible around it, a wall perhaps, of something strong, like steel. A wall of steel. And not for any virus, either.

Here's the latest, can't even work out the motivation:

We're all talking about the engines going for the headline hook, line and sucker and here's this guy out here playing 4D chess, questioning the integrity of 'journalists' - that's why he's paid the big bucks

Maybe Toyota is overdue on the propaganda invoice, or Indians have moved on from the white Corolla and Camry hybrid
