Default New WT Fiesta

Picked up a new 2010 WT Fiesta CL Manual with aftermarket alloys last night. Colour is Black Mica.

First impressions are that they are as solid as the German made model. No rattles or creaks anywhere.

Pluses - Bluetooth, voice activation, reasonable stereo, fuel economy, decent A/C, AUX (Ipod) connection.
Minuses - No spare (but kept a steel wheel), tyres are 185/55/15 instead of 195/50/15. Doesn't seem as well planted.

Anyway got up early and did a wash detail using the following:

Megs Claybar
Megs Swirl remover
Autoglym super resin polish
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (Sealer)

Some pics:

To come - J1 Cold air induction, Eibach springs, tint.

Gratuitous photo of Fez's big brother:

I'll post a photo of new intake when fitted, although I'm also investigating the K&N Apollo System. $250 as opposed to $400 shipped for the J1. But I'm googling for some dyno proof.

Finally washed the XR this morning and went for a run through Kurrajong.....

Another gratuitous pic...

Looks great. On the inside, do they still have the soft touch dash because I herd they didn't but looking at one on the weekend they look like they do? I saw a sedan and *shivers down spine* I actually think it's quite attractive. The tail lights ruin it, but it's actually not too bad, definitely the best small sedan on the market. And after a huge weekend crating people around, I will never buy a Three-Door every again haha!

Glad you like the WT aircon. The WS aircon is AWEFUL.

No longer soft touch, but I think it still looks and feels good.
A/C was working fine today and it hit 34 at Penriff today whilst in the car.
Maybe the A/C is all the better for Thai manufacturing as that place gets stinking hot.

Thanks for replying mate! Thanks for the info. Glad your aircon works too, was 26 degrees today and mine was struggling. You're probs sot on, most Euro regions are freezing, Thailand is stinking hot. My heater is great though!

I agree, it might not be as good looking as the Fiesta hatchback, but the Fiesta sedan isn't that bad.

Zeta? Do you mean Zetec sedan?
In Ford Australia's site, the Fiesta sedan is only available in two trim levels, CL and LX.
http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Satel...apper&site=FOA

A Fiesta sedan in Zetec trim would look something like the the Thai spec Fiesta S sedan (Zetec trim is similar to S trim).

Looks good, so the CL now comes with the zetec bumper (minus the lights and skirt)

Also, I would check your tyre size, so you replaced your 195's with 185's? Any reason why you would reduce your footprint on the road?

Cheers

That is the new OE factory standard tyre on the CL & LX.

They are still continental brand tyres.

I wouldn't choose to reduce the footprint, hence my comment that they don't seem as well planted as the outgoing 195/50/15.

When these wear out I'll be going to 205/45/15 if spacing allows.

Glad to hear they've fixed the aircon. That's about the only slight blemish on our WS. Oh, that sedan is woeful.

Have checked with three Ford dealers, and all have confirmed they are using WS stock to satisfy Zetec customers until the WT Zetec hatch comes in March next year. AM2 is correct, no Zetec sedan.

In saying that I've seen a Fiesta with a Titanium badge in Australia, so my guess is someone put a Zetec badge on one to make it look fancy (much like me putting an 'S' badge on my Zetec!).

Link to the Ford website. I'm not saying I don't believe what you saw, but it won't be a Zetec, it'll be an LX or CL that has a Zetec badge. Perhaps there was confusion at the factory (new car, revised factory, new badges, easy to make a mistake) or the dealer has wanted to spruce up a show room demo and put some nice wheels and a Zetec badge on the car. There is no official WT Fiesta Zetec sedan in the Australian market. Besides, we don't see the WT Zetec hatch until March 2011.

Zetecs will be WS models from Europe until March next year (its on the Ford AU website on the WS page)

My Mrs scrambled to order a WS Zetec (not a fan of the WT) before the switch.

The WT Zetec has chrome front grille inserts and chrome fog light surrounds (like the image AM2 posted above). Again, the car you saw may have these, I've seen WS Zetec models with the non-projector headlights, some missing the chrome fog light surrounds, early cars may be going through some teething issues.

Done 1200klms of mixed driving including about 5 trips into the city in peak hour on the M4 carpark (110 klms return). Fuel average shows 7.8 per 100. Majority of driving has been a 4klm drive to the station each day where it doesn't get much of a chance to heat up.

On freeway its been averaging below 5 per 100.

I remember the day of sub 5L/100km on the hi-way. But no, I just had to put 17" wheels on the car! That's great mate, mine does about 7L/100km around town these days too, but hi-way is now 5.5L/100km.

Hope the Fez is going well

I have got a WT Fiesta. You can still put the 185/90/R15 size tyres on them. I am as happy as can be with mine. A ripper of a little car
