Hi everyone,
Newbie question, but the grey plastic rear bumper strip on my Zetec has polish or something on it from where the dealer has prepped the car. Any suggestions on what to use to get it off and how to keep it looking fresh and clean. The car is black, so the powdery marks really stand out. Thanks in advance!

2 solutions.
One is called wax blaster https://www.waxit.com.au/products.asp?cat=9 (Bottom of page) Have just bought some, but haven't used it yet. The second solution, and this is not a joke, but rub it with smooth peanut butter!!!!!!! I have seen this on a few international websites. Literal rub the affected trim, wait and then wipe off in one direction. I have never tried it, but others swear by it. Which ever method you use, once done, protect with a vinyl/rubber protector. I prefer Autoglym. Good luck!

I'll give it a go. I have smooth in the cupboard. Come to think of it, that kinda fits with the "Smooth New Ford Focus"!

Fantastic Plastic (pink gooey stuff) is probably the best stuff to use on all plastics, including bumper strips!

my personal opinion, but theres really no way to protect these plastic mouldings as they sit...
they're unpainted, so dont have any protection from the sun. the only real way to keep them good is to paint them....... either mask up the panel arround them, rub them back with some fine paper and paint them with a preasurepack, or remove them, take them somewhere to be pro painted and replace... ive done it to my fairlane by masking the panel up, and IMO they came up pretty good.. they'd started to go light grey/white due to the sun i used a metalic gunmetal preasurepack can, and masked the panels up with tape/newspaper. i also did the B pillar trims and door handles in the same way with the same paint heres the end result http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/DSCF6059.jpg and an old pic to see the difference http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ights016-1.jpg |

I've heard a pencil erasure will remove the polish marks from black plastic trim. I haven't tried it myself but supposedly it works really well and is cheap / easy.
