There are expensive and I don't know if the intakes a much larger than a Tickford or XR snorkel, which cost a fraction less.

That said I checked today and there were 6 AU Tickford / XR intakes for sale. Someguy was selling one new at $60. Ebay is good but when you got dumbass's selling it for that much saying it is a "rare" part because the Tickford name isn't around is stupid. And the people who but it at $60 are letting this cycle continue.

(OK stop rant now).

what u need is an xh ute snorkel, about 35 bucks from ford. there a couple of things that need to be modified but its worth it.
i used one but modified the underside of the snorkel as there are two pipe like things splitting the flow, i cut this open and then sealed it back up so it is one big mouth....

there is a "how to" here - http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/documents.php?doc=33

u will also need to cut some rubber off the bonnet so it can close properly. and u will also need to modify the radiator shroud.

It does by directing the air into the snorkel so it is not trying to suck hard to get the amount of air required BUT you get all kind of crap in the air box , MOTHS , BEES , GRASSHOPPERS , and the filter gets dirty very quickly
I had a CAI on the car for about 2 weeks and went back to the XR8 Tickford one for 2 reasons
1 the difference in HP was NONE by the feel of it
2 the engine cover would not go on over the edge of the new intake and the bare motor looked shite : and I aint going to chop the engine cover up

On a standard EA-ED it would be, but I've got the BBM manifold.

I cant get over people bidding on T Series intakes on ebay and paying $50+ for some not including the postage costs.

You can walk into Ford Spares and get one for $30

I have the AUIII XR8 Tickford snorkel fitted to my EBII 5.0L. It was pretty straight forward to setup and fitted into the cold air system I have, and the mouth of it is MUCH bigger than that stuff on eBay, and only cost me $30 from the Ford Dealer.

I fitted a BA XR6T CIA made by SS Inductions to my AU3 XR8. Its a straight fit as the front a across the top of the radiator shroud is the same in the AU's & BA's. The mouth on the BA one is much wider than the AU one that they make. I did a before & after dyno run, making 14rwkw. I did notice a big power gain & a much improved fuel economy of the car. The only mod to it is to trim back a bit of the top lip on the CIA as to stop the bonnet closing up the opening & make a larger hole in the side of the air box. The engine cover didn't need to be touched.

Well, those of us with an AU XR have the easiest mod. Just suck in cool air from behind the headlights. I have an 80mm dreainpipe going from the front of the airbox directly to the back of the headlights. The XR headlights are not sealed to the nosecone so heaps of air gets in there and is not effected by engine heat as its too fat forward and constantly getting fresh air as you drive.
Total cost....$0 (had the drain pipe already.)
