Default My AU 6 Stacker...

...has eaten my Jordin Sparks CD, and wont eject it!!! Not only that, it wont even play it, or any of the other CD's in there.

I was having trouble with it this morning, when I started the car up it SPAT OUT my Jordin Sparks CD!!!!, so I put it back in, and it immediately spat it back out again, so I shoved it back in again, and now it refuses to do anything.

What do I do?!!? :

hey mate my mums got a au fairmont ant this happened to her aswell, it also happened to my mates au falcon, if your cars been in a crash at any stage there is a tilt sensor that can stuff up the cd player, or my mums just went like yours, and we had te send it to the eastern states to get the cds out and sent back and the unit replaced but i think it was still under warrenty, so u gotta get ford to check it out but if its out of wrrenty it might be better to just get a new deck

a very common fault in AU in dash stackers.

You have 2 options:

1. get it replaced either new or second hand with the risk it will foul up again in the future

OR

2. replace it with an aftermarket unit.

I personally did the latter as I couldnt be stuffed paying large amounts of cash for something that could end up being thrown in the bin in a short amount of time.

if it is series 1 remove the cd stacker, and leave power connected, turn it so that the cd cartridge is on the bottom and the whole unit is standing up and then press eject.

Normally works cause the cd falls back into cartridge, i've had mine jam about 5 times and this worked each time, and then it would work fine for a while again.

Looks good. Just be well aware what your rights are with warranties etc in case it carks it. Other than that, give it a go and let us know how well it works.

Well im gonna butt in here and say that the factory CD player is in fact a very good and reliable unit. Compared to many aftermarket units they outlast the majority of them, when you put it in perspective AU series 1 cd players are now 9-10years old. And apart from the odd stuck cd, mine still works perfectly, and so do 2 other units in mates cars. I'm yet to own a aftermarket CD-player that still reads properly after 5years, and i don't buy cheap either.

I'm refering to series 1 in boot stackers, and yet still i have had 3 pioneer/1 sony/1 alpine/2 jvc headunits and none of them have still worked properly after 4 years, and some of these were $1k units, no stackers all single in dash.

So to me your AU stacker has still done well.

Besides its probably your sydney air making them play up. :

as if its the sydney air :

we never had a problem with the inboot stacker in our EL. even when we moved it to under the passenger seat!!!

the indash stackers are hopeless!

i had a sanyo headunit for a year no troubles, and a pioneer one now. no problems with it, except when i thought it wiped my ipod : :

Yeah My 6 stacker is an indash unit, from series two or three. I think it might be a series 2 coz it looks different to my brother 6stacker and his is a T-series 3....
I replaced it from the standard CD player that was in my car, thats why im a little vague as to the series of it...

But yeah, the CD player that was in my AU when I bought it stuffed up aswell, it wouldnt play the CD, it just spinned it round and spat it back out, so yeah.... im a bit over them atm.

my series 2 is in dash stacker is 7 year old and still going fine .....but it is a bit tempremental with copied disc`s i have found, i could be wrong here but i think the loading mechanism is prone to failure if not loaded correctly.

yeah all the problems i've heard of/repaired have been loader mech's, as for not reading some copier discs, the units weren't designed to read them if the first place, and if you get discs like TDK audio blanks, then they should play fine no probs.

Another thing to take note of is that cd's arnt all the same thickness, i have pulled out jammed cd's when repairing and noticed that sometimes the customers jammed culprit is thinner than other discs i was using to test with.

In my experience with my 6 stacker, it seems to run copied discs a whole lot better, i put some orginals in it the other day and they skipped around terribly, and whenever it "eats" a disc i found turning it off then bak on works
