Hey everyone;
Had to replace the battery on the XH and of course I neglected to put a temp battery on in parrallel. Long story short, the radio wants a code entered before it'll turn back on. Since I bought the car second hand from a yard and I'm the tenth owner (or whatever) there was no manual nor a code supplied with the car. Has anyone had this happen? It's too late tonight to call Ford, so I might give them a buzz on Tuesday, but the odds of them having the code on file is pretty slim. Has anyone been able to get the code, or bypass one? Or am I up for a new radio? |

give your local ford dealer a ring , u will need the vin number of your ute. they should be able to give u the code over the phone.
some dealers in adelaide want $10 or $15 for it and u need to show them proof of ownership too. |

Thanks!
Saw elf's reply first. Called McInerney Ford and gave them the VIN and they were nice enough to give me the radio code over the phone. Very happy with that. Though the lady that I spoke to said "and make sure you don't lose it!" in a motherly tone! Feeling very chastised, I promised I I would keep it (wrote it down in two places) and thanked her. Long story short, now I don't have to run out and buy a new radio for the car anymore. Thanks for the replies. |

I've bought a factory radio (with code) for the XH & wondering how to programme it.
What I don't understand is do I input the code of the radio I have or does each vehicle have a code pre-programmed by Ford & I input that regardles of the radio code. Cheers Nick

The stereo has its own code, not the vehicle. So, if your stereo is out of another vehicle, you would need to quote that other vehicles VIN. Or get your stereo serial number and ask the mob as someone above has previously mentioned? Hope this helps. |
