Funny how Ranger is number 1 model ahead of the Hilux but we are running out of words just how much Toyota flogs everyone in total sales. It is no where near close

Yep. Take HiLux, RAV4 & Prado out of the equation and Toyota STILL finish first.

Probably because , to use a sporting analogy, most people remember who won the 100m sprint but no-one remembers which country won the most gold medals..

I wonder if Ford had leased it's own exclusive car transporter ship earlier how much ahead Ranger would already be?

Just imagine how much higher Toyota numbers would be if Ranger and Everest weren’t there….
This month, it’s a combined 8,000 for Ranger and Everest alone and 8,600 with all the other Ford products combined.

Yeah, Toyota juggernaut continues on but now Mazda at 9,200 and Ford at 8,600 are at least 2 and 3 in our market.
Even combined, they don’t add up to Toyota’s sales tally.

Am I right in thinking that 6,200 Rangers sold is a new Record for Ford?
If so I wonder when it will hit transport/production limits…….

Another site is claiming Landcruiser (not Prado) was in 5th spot at 2561 sales?
Is that a combination of 300 and 79 series ?

Toyota Prado – 2320
Mitsubishi Outlander – 2238
Ford Everest – 1803
Hyundai Tucson – 1762

Good to see Everest back up with another 1,803 sales last month but Prado showed it strength with 2,320

I think Ford needs a bigger boat…..

FFS Ford, where are all the Escapes and Pumas promised from Europe?

4×2 Utes: Toyota HiLux (937), Isuzu D-Max (607), Mitsubishi Triton (322)
4×4 Utes: Ford Ranger (5949), Toyota HiLux (4829), Isuzu D-Max (2591)
Utes above $100,000: Ram 1500 (308), Chevrolet Silverado (256), Chevrolet Silverado HD (74)

Hilux 4x2 Ute sales still adding 937 to its combined tally, Ranger 4x2 sales are a minor at 266 sales
Ranger 4x4 deliveries strong as ever with 5949 sales 1,120 clear of Hilux 4x4 and double third place D-Max

Looks like no F150 sales registered as yet but intersting to note large Utes have settled around 300 per brand
I wonder what F150 sales will look like and whether that adds to or draws from those existing numbers…

err...Escape here is being dropped after Dec '23..
https://www.drive.com.au/news/ford-e...fter-22-years/

and just before an improved update is released, but seems Escape in general has survival rumours:

The same search engine also say 47 Escape in the whole of Queensland, I’d take car sales number s with a grain of salt.
Not that I’d disagree that some Escape sitting there unsold but the prices look reasonable, unless dealer mark up.

Also, same search engine says 7,066 Rangers for sale…..I doubt there’s more than 10% of that readily available…

Didn’t Ford advise dealers to stop advertising on car sales?

Looks like Australia needs to introduce a "tax according to vehicle weight" to discourage the amount of "SUV" trucks in our roads.

There was zero passenger cars ie hatchbacks or sedans in the top ten sellers in Oct
Sales of passenger cars down to 16 percent

What gov would be brave enough to put a weight tax on non commercial vehicles

Let’s face it - bigger the vehicle the higher your perceived status

Why else would you want a BMW x 7 or Audi Q7

Neither car is immune to radar speeding tickets or high maintenance cost of life costs

It’s all about status

I'm against increased taxes on Thailand Specials and SUVs - while I don't particularly like either of them I'm not going to argue for punishment for peoples personal choices and how they spend their money - they contribute more money to the system anyway through fuel excise as they use more fuel and they pay more GST on things like consumables with their more expensive tyres et al.

All three levels of government get enough money from everyone as it is, maybe they should just spend it better, we don't have a revenue problem, we've got a retards running the farm problem.

If you wanted to go down that path, another angle to look at it from is the tax benefits Thailand Specials provide and are incentivised through favorable discounts, you could look at things like that as they're being subsidised and encouraged by tax payers.

Or increase the fuel excise on diesel but then increase the fuel tax credits rebate to match, so the people who use it to do something useful aren't effected but the Thailand Specials and SUVs cop it in the rear and you can disincentivise their purchase that way (and force things like hybrid Ranger to come to market quicker and the industry to dump diesel engines) - you can market it from an environmental perspective and you'll have the inner city lefties and teal voters on the hook because there's nothing they love more than holding down someone else and forcing their way on them

Unless you have a similar SUV or Ute, car parks are now a nightmare trying to see over and around them.
If you have a similar vehicle, the higher seating position helps with the above but owning a car now sux.

Umm...towing capacity, versatility, offroad capabilities.

You'll pay the same coin for a high end Ranger as you'll pay for a Prado.
With Pajero gone and Landcruiser or Patrol at drug money, there isnt really a lot of option outside ute based wagons which are a compromise so might aswell get the ute.

Come on mate... the majority of these rangers and hilux will
never tow, never go off road and never have anything in the back. Most will
be sold to their second owners with an unused tub. It's a fad (look at me I'm driving a ute)

You obviously don’t live near a beach you can drive on. 100’s of dual cabs down the beach every weekend with family’s, surfers and fishermen. I’m a tradie but don’t use my Ranger for work. My criteria for a car is,
Must be 4x4 (for beach use)
Must be able to hold a fair amount of gear (for holidays in the caravan)
Must seat 4 (two kids)
Could I get away with a 4x4 wagon? Absolutely, but I like being able to throw wet surfboards, wet dogs, bikes, and any other dirty items in the back and hose it out. I’ve picked up turf, soil and mulch ect. It’s not stuff you do everyday but it’s good to have the convenience there when you need it without having to buy/borrow a trailer. I’m sure I’m not alone, my thoughts anyway.

Good stuff FlipXW. Tend to prefer the wagon to the ute and put the wet wetties in a wettie bucket and safely secure everything from 5'11 to 9'6" in the wagon body but everyone is different!

It's astounding that cars like Corolla which ruled the sales only a few years ago aren't even in the top 10.
