Pretty much as the title says, I've been having pretty slow load times when browsing the forum and sometimes when I go into a forum or thread, it will only partly load, ie one page worth in the browser.
What makes it weird is if I hit refresh, it will have the same drama. If I click the middle mouse button though on refresh so that it opens in a new tab it seems to load without any hiccups. Only really started having this issue over the last few days, and nothing on my end has changed. Other webpages are loading and behaving normally, it's just ff for some reason. So is it me, or are other people having similar issues? Cheers |

We have a number of scheduled tasks that run at midnight so I'll have a look and see if one of those is slowing the server down. Otherwise, I can't see anything in the logs to suggest performance issues but I will review the error logs which I see have been large the last few days.
Cheers Russ

I've moved some of the scheduled tasks around and also fixed an error that was generated by the recent server kernel updates applied last week so it should go back to normal.
Cheers Russ

Somewhere around 00:15-00:30 this morning performance was terrible and a look at the logs seems to indicate that the cause was extremely high disk activity. Further investigation will be conducted to find the root cause.
Cheers Russ

Hi Russ - perhaps you are aware, perhaps not, but this issue seems to happen every day around that same time (midnight to roughly 12.30 am).

I am aware thanks guys - the midnight to 12.30 period is when a lot of the scheduled maintenance tasks take place along with another batch at 04:00 but I am trying to identify which task is causing the current issue so I can move it to a later window.
Cheers Russ

There are some maintenance tasks that I can't move from their current window of a midnight start and these have been taking about 20 minutes to complete. Not a lot I can do except set the server time out by a couple of hours so they start art 02:00 but that impacts other things.
Cheers Russ PS: I've just reviewed the scheduled tasks log and none of those took very long. 57667 Birthdays 00:01, 31st Dec 2015 Email sent 57668 Daily Digest 00:02, 31st Dec 2015 Daily Digest Sent 57669 Hourly Cleanup 00:05, 31st Dec 2015 Cleanup #1 Completed 57670 Activation Reminder Email 00:05, 31st Dec 2015 Email sent So it isn't any of those tasks. Will see what else runs.

Just by way of warning I am going to do a server restart today at 21:00 - it's been 584 days since the last one so it's probably about time!
Cheers Russ

Thanks to a power outage here that lasted a couple of hours, the restart has been delayed until 23:00.
Regards Russ

Testing has been completed successfully and we have identified the process causing the issue (for about 20 minutes). This process will either be moved out to 03:30 or not run at all.
Thanks to the guys who helped with the testing. Cheers Russ
