Thumbs up New Sub Forum - Everything Holden

Is it possible to make a new sub section "Everything Holden"
Or just "Holden"

It should go in the section Non Ford if possible

I really can't see it going well we already have enough Holden trolls who do nothing but sprout how the Ford product is inferior to the Holden without encouraging them

There is already a section for NON FORD but the Holden threads are not moved there :(

Yes that could also go for other manufacturers but not really an issue.

This is FORD Forums - In August the HSV will be tested and then more Holden threads will pop up.

We have a demise of the Falcon going on and lets not help the cause by having Holden Threads in the main section.

I see your point but think rather than open a section that caters to Holden in A Ford forum, that all Holden threads be moved to the non Ford area without creating a Holden section. I only see dramas coming from creating a Holden section

GM and by extension Holden are a long running top competitor to Ford so I see no problem having a GM sub forum separate from the rest of non-Ford.

try something like this at any Holden forum and see what happens. the way I see it if you want Holden specific information this is not where it should be found.
if the Holden thread is directly related to a competing Ford product and the comparison line is drawn fine but otherwise go to a Holden forum and get your information

Yes indeed that's a better idea
Enough of the Free Advertising for Holden on a Ford Forum
It is just going to get worse from here on in
Lets move the threads to NON FORD as there is already a specific section for this...........

I will even help with the links here - these are the first 3 threads on the Pub section right now at 1.14pm 20/06/2013

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398645

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398511

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11397656

and then these
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398515

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398092

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398523

Then if you move all the above threads then these Holden ones will pop up on the first page in the Pub

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11398275

There are lots of Holden forums already, it will just mean there will be more Holden stuff filling up the new content page.

If I need any info on my Corolla I go to the Corolla forums.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't have a problem with some of the Holden threads being in the pub.

As far as I can tell, the pub is for "General Automotive Related Talk" and I would have thought this covered discussion of upcoming models from different manufacturers, the direction and future of the Australian car industry, etc...

It's not like people are asking technical questions about Commodores.

I haven't said delete them - for those who want to know about all things Holden find the threads elsewhere instead of the main pub section.

This is FORD FORUM not all makes and models with a sprinkle of FORD

MOST join this forum because they do or they have owned a FORD or they are a fan of FORD not cause you own any of the other makes out there especially Holden - you want to read about Holden got to LS1.com

Someone who wants to buy a Ford Google's Ford - Ford Forum comes up and 6 or 7 threads in the main section is all about Holden - what sort of message does that send..................

The latest and greatest FPV GT Rspec even has it's own section now and it has very little traffic as it's hidden away in the Forum Community Car Clubs - do the same for Holden

And the most members that will comment in this thread will be the ones who like reading about Holden as with everything the people who agree stay silent but the people who disagree voice their opinion

For now you are witnessesing what Ford has produced, like it or not people will back local product (most of the time) so any news about a new commy, torana etc is just that..news.

The R Spec has little traffic because how many owners are actually here?

I dont entirely disagree but the current situation is just a reflection of how the market is. I think the Ford content here heavily outweighs anything else.

I learnt, slowly, a while ago that if you dont like it then just to click on it. I dont think for a second anyone buying a Ford would care about how many threads are on a forum.

Email Ford and ask them to produce something thats good and news worthy.

I actually like the idea of a Holden thread. Of course I love Ford but I also love some of the older Holdens as I'm sure many others on here do too.
In order to keep it civil without the usual Ford versus Holden rivalry boiling over into a full on war it should have it's own moderator who can pull the troublemakers up before things get out of hand.
Thats just my 2cents worth.

How many actually read the forums by section though?

I only ever just hit the 'new posts' button, and scroll through that to see if there's anything interesting. It's only if I'm looking for something specific il go through the forum lists.

Holden posts will show up just the same as now for anyone doing the same as me.

Then you'd have to name it "general automotive talk except for Holden stuff, you've been banished to the naughty corner"

Yeah, it's a ford forum. That said, maybe we should do away with anything that has nothing to do with fords.

Yep take it to extremes lol

It's a very simple - Holden Section for Holden threads - it may end up bigger than LS1

Sarcasm dude, thought that was obvious from the ridiculous name I used.

As much as I agree that as a ford forum the majority of threads shouldn't be "would this holden be a good car"; at the moment, everything that's going on with the automotive industry is pretty damn important regardless of company imho. But that's just my 2c.

Isn't that what the pub's for, all automotive talk, no Holden forum here IMO.

Look I don't mind a bit of the Holden chat but I don't think it warrants its own forum.

You want Holden forum, go find one. This is Ford forum, and just because Ford Oz will stop manufacturing in 2016, doesn't mean we should suddenly embrace Holden (which is what giving it its own sub forum would do).

Your answer is to then get rid of the pub, which is silly, every town needs a pub.

That's cause they love Holdens and have a passion for Holdens
But here in a Ford Forum most love Holden threads - no wonder Ford is out of here with Ford Fans like most in here.

They rather talk about Holdens and a random thread about Ford Closure
