Bought a K&N and fitted. Seems the bees knees Here's a question though... on their web site they mention manufacturers giving warrenty issues on MAF sensors....which I assume is the hot wire. Whilst they defend their position on this, it does make a little sense ie (my thoughts) little droplets of oil landing on the hot wire, getting burnt and causing it to stay hotter than it should be, it thinks less air going past and leans out motor. K&N suggest cleaning if this happens but claim not to be responsible, OK. My question... anyone experienced this???? Warning for not over oiling??? |

Have seen many here
K & N say customer must have over oiled the element after cleaning to cause the problem Bottom line is no warranty! |

Just be careful when re-oiling, light coat let it 'wick-in' (20 mins or so) then add another light spray. WRX's are prone to MAF sensor failure in normal conditions let alone oiled filters, having said that I just cleaned and re-oiled mine last weekend no dramas if you arent too heavy handed with the spray

another alternative to a k&N if your worried is you could buy a 2 stage uniFilter and only oil the outer layer.
I am not starting a one filter is better thank the other argument as it is personal preference.

Its not that it renders the meter useless ..
Just clean it if there's any issues... It's not exactly the oil.. Its the bum fluff that sticks to the oil on hot wire...
