hi guys
i've recently had issues with my cousins tx5 telstar 93 model, which once we replaced the sparkplugs its performance was much better ( acceleration ) and speed pickup yet around 4000rpm it flutters or stutters , then it picks back up or it just wont go anywhere unlesss you ease the throttle. i've nottice this occurs when putting pushing the pedal on the floor it will just start stuttering but if you lightly accelerate it will be fine it is a spark plug issue, previous spark plugs were denso gapped to like .5mm , it is a reconditioned engine any advice would be great guys |

I would check or replace the ignition leads. Just by chance, you didnt get any water into the spark plug wells did you?

nope not one bit of water is in it, we've actually changed leads and now re-gapped them to .4mm and now it works? not the same amount of power/acceleration from what we got when we had it on 1.1 gappage of the sparks but it doesnt fluster
thanks for your input guys? why would it be needing such a small gap ? |

The plug gap is meant to be 1.0mm isn't it?
If you cant run that size gap then there must be some weakness in your ignition system somewhere. I would start by inspecting your distributor cap and rotor. You havent fitted a turbo or anything have you? |
