well i was wanting it to be colour coded with the car but i thought that if i were to spray it silver it wouldn't look as "factory" style becase of the quality of the black strip.
iv considered an XR5T rear bar as that doesnt have it but i think it might be a little too costly |

i live and breathe that site atm like most of us focus owners do.
im not exactly after a complete new rear bumper as i like the one on the zetec, i think i just want to colour code the rear black strip on the focus hatch to the colour of the car as its a less expensive job. just wondering if anyone has done this? or what can i do about it. im a little worried it would look stupid as the black plastic is a different plastic from that of the rear bumper. |

A good panel beater should be able to prep it and paint it to be the same...

I respayed the grey plastic strip myself with some spraypacks of plastic primer, glossy black and clear. I'm happy with how it came out, but if you were gonna take it to a sprayshop then get them to sand the plastic mould texture out to make it all smooth.

How well has it lasted? If you've done that yourself with spraycans, I'll do it to mine as well! Looks fantastic. What brand of paint and primer did you use?

On mine, the texture has not been sanded out. Simply primed and sprayed over the top and it looks fine. Then again, the strip on the LR is not as integrated as LS/LT
