Hmm, got me then. Most of the issues with rattles in the rear are to do with IRS shocks punching through the top shock mounts. Live axles dont seem to have the same issue.

The bolts through the bottom mount of the shock need to be REALLY tight or they rattle, try doing them up as hard as you can. Had to do mine twice after lowering the car.

Yes my EBII ghia had this problem and it took me a while before I found it, first I thout itt was a loose speaker in the parcel shelf and I thought it was a number of dirrerent things. Then I got my mate to do a few laps round the hood and sure enough it was a shocky that came ever so slightly loose. I only got about half a turn out of it so yes they have to be really tight, anyway after doing this no more rattle. :

After I put in XR coils in my Forte, it had an annoying knocking/clunking sound. I thought I had tightened up the shockies right. Even used a torque wrench. It only went away after I tighten the bottom shock bolts even further.

Would this 'rattle' sound like a bit of a knock? Could it be the same problem coming from the front of the car? Mine has a bit of a knock in the front when I go over a bump. I've checked out all the bushes, and they are all fine. I know the front suspension was recently all replaced just before I got the car. (My mechanic had a look, and told me it all looked new, then when I took it back to the yard to get the rear lower control arm bushes done, he told me he'd already done the front end suspension on it.)
After reading this thread, I'm thinking maybe the bolts in the struts may not be tight enough. Thoughts?
