hello all, I have just purchased a 78 4 door esky for the purpose of auto crossing it and was wondering if any one knew where I could download a workshop/repair manual for one. I have found a few places claiming to have them, but they al seem to be for post 1980 escorts.
I guess this has already been covered, I just cant find where. If any one could help, I would appreciate it. cheers. |

1978 models are the same as 1980 (BC model). Mk2 are the same shape but a little different in badges, petrol tank location, front struts and only came out in 1300cc/1600cc Kent motors.

No that's not it. In Australia we had Mk1, Mk2 and BC. In the UK and other countries they continued on with MK3 and so on. The BC was a Australian thing like the TD Cortina (model designation codes)

Just keep an eye on eBay - the genuine Ford manual is far better than Gregory's and they do come up from time to time.
The book you want is for MkII which ran from 1975-1980. (light yellow cover IIRC) If the dissy is turning then the lock stud is either missing or the thread is stripped - you may have to remove the dissy and do a "heli-coil" repair to the hole. Check the thread on the stud first though as you may just be lucky that it is the item that is stripped. |

will have a look, and a swear, and another look, maybe swear again. it is in a difficult possi to get good visual access to, but nothing a bit of looking and swearing shouldn't fix. |

getting mucked about with manual, but I will get there. quick question though, To remove the dissy on a 1.6 mk2, do you need to remove anything else (inlet manifold) and is it just the one 12-14mm bolt at the rear that needs to be removed.
never played with the engine bay of an escort, and rather than do something the hard way, I thought I'd ask. cheers in advance. |

just remove the adjusting bolt and it should slide out...?
make sure low tension lead disconected too. |

all leads are off etc, but just cant seem to get a spanner onto the offending bolt. it would seem a few things need to be moved to allow access :
any tips? cheers |

well the adjusting bolt is never easy to reach, but once its out, it should jsut slide out?
you might have to have some serious patience tho... turning a bolt, 1/8 of a turn each time will take a while, but u no its worth it! |
